And here comes those lovely huge drops of rain that you only get in conditions like these.

If I cant get to Cancun this year, feels like Cancun has come to me

Just thinking the same thing @BB1979 - eerily calm, odd spots of rain - can see the Cb just over to the north but the crackling rumbling thunder seems nearer. Heard 5-6 rumbles so far - blimey, first CG as I’m typing - that’s more like it

Strong onshore breeze now and nothing except very flat cumulus rapidly filling what was a glorious blue sky.  Meh.

This is what I can see - it is extremely localised but you can see other Cbs exploding behind it!

Just sat in Grantham near the A1 with some big towers all around me. Waiting on something to go bang within easy driveable distance.

Looked good for a while. Couple of rumbles. Now all seems to have dissipated apart from a rain section further to the north.☹

Seems to be some kind of dry air cap over the Nene Valley, big clouds keep coming along and becoming decimated as they pass. This one is over Wellingborough, I will take again in 10 minutes.

It’s very odd - it looks like I’m between 2-3 towers that have gone up at once. The tight intense parent cell is moving East, with what looks like another just ahead and one back to my SW.

I can’t help but think these cells are the hors d’œuvres and preceding some beefier cells once they start organising.

Some good orographic uplift on the SW edge of the Peak District, all this will be moving SE, maybe a heads up here for Derby, perhaps S. Notts.

It’s going mad now - I’m under the inflow tail and there’s thunder now every 10 - 15 seconds or so. This could be the first major cell of the day.
