Gah... the "Severe Drizzle" at Reigate has turned to steady rain. So much for gardening. So much for thunderstorms. Eyup, wet day in t'garden again.

The seagull business makes me chuckle. The channel owner says they're seagulls, so that's that.

I wanted to do gardening today too

There are some nice storm cell cloud structures on the Lagrune Sur Mer web cam looking out onto the Channel. No lightning.

Moving off now...

It's dull but humid here again, but no sun so no heat being fed into the atmosphere.

Maybe there will be a surprise pop up storm .

I usually find that storms pop up from nowhere around here as opposed to more forecast storms if that makes sense .

Such a loud boom after the initial thunder. (Around 5.30 am ) Stayed up all night to watch these incredible storms.

AROME, Euro4 and NMM all indicating the potential for storms in the Channel tonight but a little frustratingly all dying as they approach the coast. Might be lucky enough to get some lightning displays before they decay.

Watching what’s in the channel now which appears to be heading north towards us.

That area of precipitation is surface based, the sferics aren’t even dipping their toes into the channel before petering out. None of that will survive the trip across.

Sunny warm and very humid, only relief is sat on the beach with the wind coming off the sea . Added a brief 360 scan of the beautiful skies from the north clockwise.

Nothing once again today, maybe a little isolated storm for the SE (goes without saying) but generally for the rest away from the storm capital its just low cloud and drizzle

Forecasts are all suggesting a convergence up from the SW into southern and central areas. Sun is now breaking through the clouds so expecting some potentially heavy surface-based storms to develop.

Exact location is hard to determine, but areas north of Oxford were never going to see much from this

Temps back up to 23C here now and some towering Cu to my north. As it continues to warm a CZ maybe set up and drive up a few heavier showers and the odd TS.

It’s clearing from the SE so you’re probably about an hour or so from the yellow stuff. Keep hope!

Lift off! 23C reached and cu has already  broken through the slight cap at 850mb. Cloud tops could rise to 33k.

Good afternoon storm fans

Well done to everyone that got a decent storm last night, it was decent display once the first rain band passed through.

I did manage to get some shots, but I need to go through and sort them, so will post when I get a moment.

The skies are starting to look better, plus we have quite a clear slot passing through, this should have an impact on getting something going for people further inland,  and this is what I can see to my north

Good luck, let's hope someone kicks off soon

Looks like the thunderstorm threat will be more towards Dorset. Hope you all have your cameras ready.
