New shower just popped up out of nowhere, right overhead. Huge soft hail convective raindrops falling.

Can anyone near Ashford confirm rumbling trying to work out if the lightning maps are correct in it going the opposite direction to the radar which is approaching me.

A thunderstorm has developed to my NE. I can't see any lightning or hear any thunder though?!

Oh dang, I didn't even realise an amber warning for thunderstorms had been issued.

I can see the top of the tower of the cell in South Glos that has just started popping sferics. Otherwise, a clear blue sky here.

Indeed. Just watching the top grow, looks like a volcano just erupted...

Ah, I see that my newly improved storm shield is up and running

Storm rapidly weakening as it heads my way but more behind it setting up camp.

Looking very stable to the W/SW of London currently. Not to be today.

The atmosphere in that area is the exact opposite of very stable.

Hearing occasional deep rumbles - think it’s from the cell near Orpington (again!). But it looks as if maybe there’s a new tower going up to my west over London - hard to see it completely through other clouds but it looks immensely vertical and high!

#get in - it’s just kicked out a rumble! Hopefully this will come close
