Yeah it's kind of looking like the sea breeze or positioning of the instability will be working against us today... That's why I enjoy elevated thunderstorms coming up from France so much more than this kind of setup!

Thanks, this is big help! Despite being a confident/regular long distance driver, I've never actually be around N London/E Anglia sorta way so this is so handy! Anyone, feel free to drop me a message if you're likely to be out nearby!

Avoid the M25 like the plauge around 2 or 3pm that section gets soild from all the traffic coming up and round from Uxbridge way and M4.

If I was a betting man I would be somewhere on the outskirts of Cambridge ready to be able to move south west or east if needs be...

Issue is these storms will be popping off at random then creating environments where they can fire sister storms. In this case its sometimes a race to get there before the main storm dies and the sister takes over and so on..

I will be out chasing this afternoon. From here I reckon I will head in the direction of the A1 Grantham and then drop south towards Peterborough area. Unsure when to head off as some forecasts show storms initiating early afternoon, others late afternoon. I guess better be safe than sorry and head out early. Going to grab a couple of hours sleep first as didn't sleep much last night because of the heat. Today looks quite exciting for areas in the southern half of Eastern England (East Midlands south). Hopefully I can be in the action.

Interesting forecast from Nick Finnis. The Met Office appears to be awake, too (surprisingly). However, Estofex remains silent.

So...I don't want to get my hopes up for here yet, but it would be good to see some action

At the moment the skies are clear in Reigate with a touch of high-level cloud building.  We've had 32c the last couple of days, which is somehow different to the forecast 32c in the Met Office's Amber Warning area. Ermmm....

Happy hunting folks. I'll let you know how it progresses here in my stationary storm watching emporium.

London and the SE has a higher temperature threshold than other UK regions

Threshold? What - it has to be 45c before they issue an Amber Warning here?

Looking southwest from here, I'd say these are over the peak district.

Hi guys, hope the lucky ones enjoy any storms that kick off this afternoon/evening,  although in the warning area here there is nothing in the local forecast but fingers crossed.

Was the same here earlier but new AcCas field overhead now. Also looks like the first cumuliform tower trying to get going to my north.

Small cumulus field bubbling up just west of Heathrow, skinny turkey towers for now though.

Just looking at the radar, things are bubbling up just north of Cambridge.

That's been trying for about 2 hours now from where I'm sat. Keeps building in a long line then the tops fall off

Can see quite a Large Cumulous bubbling up to my ESE, Ashbourne way from looks of it.
