Baking hot sunshine and humidity has arrived on the Sussex coast in the last half hour.

Someone, somewhere will get clobbered in the next couple of hours.Towers shooting up just inland of here...

Stacks of Congestus going up on the mainland. This is the closest one. You'll have to take my word for it that it looks far more impressive in real life!

The atmosphere feels down right oppressive right now above Southampton, just seen this monster growing up

Unless something bubbles up from the South, the steering flow is taking things away from here.

Yeah same here down the road in Fareham. Get the horrible feeling though that we're just growing the storms for the lucky wotsits north of us

Certainly seems that way here. Blue skies overhead and feeling very warm in the sun while it’s looked good to the north for a few hours now.

Hints of what's being modeled later now beginning in France west of Amiens. The latest UKV is still keen to take this through the channel, skimming the IOW area after midnight.

Sky has exploded inland of over central and west Dorset in the last 10mins. The cleanest convection I’ve seen in a couple of years!

Sunny here and very impressive Congestus inland, much more than the photo suggests.

Stratus has FINALLY melted away and the temperature is soaring - 21C and expectedly humid with all the rain over the past 36 hours.

Interesting that the reports of thunder in Yeovil and Southampton haven’t been detected on NetW radar or Blizortung - might suggest these detectors are not the most reliable today.

Models not keen on any overnight activity reaching here so expectations are low. Weather app is keen however on overnight rain so interesting to see what happens.

Yeah I just heard them too. Although I am to the north of the cell. I'm looking east now

Hopefully this is just the starter for later, what we need is the main course just when it starts getting darker

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
