Well it would seem that a lot of people read “very heavy rain, some thunderstorms” as “very heavy thunderstorms”

lol

You can’t say this wasn’t forecast - google weather said only rain for the last few days and they were spot on. They are also forecasting rain for the next few. Any thunderstorms will be a bonus

crazy rain in Wellingborough the past half hour, absolutely drenched in seconds, roads have looked like rivers for a couple hours now so i won’t be surprised to here some flooding reports shortly. watching radar it seemed to pulse and really go for it at the exact time i was outside ?‍♂️

What do you mean? Today's all going to 'plan' as far as the forecasts and models are concerned.

Wondering if that lot over NE France can make it into the UK? Seems like the best stuff always tends to scoot off NE though!

Isn’t the flow due to change in a while? I think better chances will be in a couple of hours, but really not expecting much - we’ve got all the usual inhibitors at play

Yep, still a window of time to make the best of that SSE upper flow. Heartbreaking to see them monsters being wasted in the North Sea as usual. Insane hailcores on them too.

That storm to the west of Rotterdam in the north sea is going absolutely ballistic, 200strikes per minute! What a waste...

no thunder, no storm activity

Just seen some big hail and rain on this cam, plus the level crossing appears to have failed. That’s probably down to a lightning strike.. chaos!

Helmond near Eindhoven!

Interesting that the UKV gets less and less interested in any storms tomorrow night with each run. The opposite of Wednesday when it massively over-egged the potential away from the far south east.

Few images from around 1A.M yesterday morning from Minnis bay Kent looking towards Reculver Castle.
I decided to stay put and see how things panned out as I've had a shot in mind for years but the storm decided otherwise so around 10:30PM I headed down to the coast in torrential rain and deep puddles, I was a bit restricted as I picked up a couple of friends, they'd never chased before, I rarely chase with others but it was great to get them their first Arcus and a decent lighting show, also managed to keep out of the rain mostly, also nice to give them a heads up on outflow and other things they wouldn't have experienced.
It was great to brush the cobwebs off after no chasing for a couple of years apart from a small storm near Hastings last year.

One of the most impressive shots of a storm I've seen from NE Kent in a long while. I do recall seeing the massive shelf through the flashes. Good to see you got it!

So our second chance of getting something has already been thrown in the dumps then?

Starting to get a bit fed up of this year now. We have had absolutely nothing thundery so far since the start of the year.

Big contrast from last year where we had already had quite a few days of thunder through Winter and Spring.

Nope just a fish, although some clipped the French coast and went to Belgium.

Despite the Thunderstorm warning and then the modified rain warning nothing here in Brighton all day

Barely a Kent Clipper. You have to laugh!
