I am currently just outside Gravesend on the A2. Completely missed the storms that passed about an hour ago. I am hoping there are more or I will have had a wasted trip

I'm hearing rumbles in the distance from Gravesend

Plenty of rainfall and some gusty winds with that one, but not a huge amount of lightning activity while it was overhead.

Northampton cells are looking to be developing on the western edge of the first MSC.

Yes I suspect the nocturnal cooling is now coming into play.  Expect to hear a few reports of "I just saw a flicker of lightning" in Midlands, southern England shortly.

This looks about right?

The cluster in central France started in Biscay, were moving N but have now got a NE direction, so probably heading  towards Paris/Belgium. That's not to say something won't break out to the N and W of it, but I doubt if we'll see this particular bunch.

Risking sleeping for a couple of hours. If I’m not woken by thunder I’ll be woken by 2am alarm set by keen daughter

Nothing but rain here not even a flicker. Why do models always push too far west?

died down here - impressive cell however - more for the intensity of the rain than anything else. A few good flashes and bangs thrown in.

Am really grateful to be having some thunder and lightning at the moment from those cells running through mid Kent. Seen many flashes, some very bright with decent rumbling thunder.

Yaaaaaaaaay!

Flashing along my SW to W horizon, moreso to SW with low rumbles.

Does anyone have advice for a good view point accessible from east London for later tonight? Happy to drive out the city but ideally not all the way to the coast

I’m at a spot near uckfield. Great views when the rain and mist sort themselves out

Absolutely throwing it down in Cuxton with the occasional rumble / flash.

Rahhhh! Awesome lilac IC flash much closer by

Edit - not sure why it’s not showing on blitzortung. Time lag between the last bright flash and the thunder suggested it was about 2 miles away or so. There’s a few flashes/rumbles that seemed much closer than the detector is suggesting

Looking forward to the distant flashes in the North Sea as usual, the excitement is too much to bear...

yep, more flashy lightning and distance thunder with the occasional close one. But it's already late so i'm not going to do any recording of this one unless its really great
