Here in Reigate we're getting top cloud stretching over us and a dirty sky from the south. that Channel monster is encroaching.

Hmm - looks like it could be fun!  Hatches battened down. But no way to tell the kitten sunbathing on the path will be washed away soon...

Can't check the humidity right now, as the display is upstairs and I'm baby sitting downstairs, but there has definitely been a shift in the 'feel' of the air since around 2/3pm.

Almost 100% cloud cover now and the air is very still. Mixed feelings about an overnight storm with a little one.

I’m sitting outside in the shade and have just started sweating!

Shame that stuff in the Channel isn’t likely to bring any sparks here.

Very Powerful Atmosphere being transported on brisk warm south easterlies over Kent and Essex - You wont often find an 81/66 in the Uk that often but that is what we have in Kent and Southern Essex at the moment.

That sort of atmosphere will go bang

The area of rainfall W/NW of Rennes is prime for development on the Sat24 and would expect to become electrified in coming hour/s.

Some elevated convection taking place north of Guernsey too.

Indeed - I can attest to how really oppressive it’s starting to feel. Thinking however I might to be too far west for lightning

Keeping my eye on all of that as it will make or break my night! Itching to get in the car now and head for the Island coast, I'm going to be so restless until I do! Dinner needed first for fuel in the hope I'm going to be out snapping until the small hours (trying to remain ultra-positive here!)

Damn it, maybe time to call the misses? 'Sorry darling, got a bit of tickly cough, you mind if we make it tomorrow night?' then grab a couple of triple of cheeseburgers at Maccy D's and head for the cliffs!!

Totally with you there. Am sat outside in Fareham (in oppressive still air) debating whether to head for Hayling Island beach now or hang on a bit longer. Argghhhhh the indecision is killing me almost as much as the headache.

The one that interests me with this plume.  Up and until now, there was none of the usual muck at high altitude.  It was crystal clear blue skies today.   That's already a different to events
