Anything for central England, hang fire. That lot currently crossing on the P&O ferry is the first little lot for south east, More destabilization further west through the night should occur, hopefully.

The west always misses out

We do have our lucky moments (last year of 2020, and especially August of that year for example!)

But we always tend to just get weak atlantic dross most of the time when a thundery plume is to the east of us.

I have to say though that i am quite upset about this today as we haven't had anything this year so far and over the weekend i thought we may have been in for a chance as it looked much more widespread then its looking now.

Does anyone have advice for a good view point accessible from east London for later tonight? Happy to drive out the city but ideally not all the way to the coast

Yeah. The best lightning storm I've ever seen happened last year (the silent lightning storm was amazing).

Bit concerned about the line the bulk of the lightning is taking

I assume it’s this stuff which may be of interest for those further north and west?

Another thing is that I also like windy weather and I had hoped that when my parents and i had to move here i thought that the lack of storms wouldn't matter as much as we would have more of the windy weather to make up for it.

But even that isn't the case as even in the Autumn and Winter we don't get much different wind strengths then what the rest of England gets. ☹️

That or maybe or elevated storms more or less home grown ahead of it.

Yeah, it's sad that we hardly ever get anything interesting.

I’d say there’s a fair chance. I would definitely have it ready!

Drawing a line between the Isle of Wight and The Wash, anywhere east of this have a very good chance of seeing storms this evening. Latest model guidance, 12z GFS, flattens the cells trajectory to a more easterly direction, meaning that Norfolk could miss out. However, you and I both know that the 12z has been in the pub since it opened at 11am this morning and cobbled something together after 4 pints, 3 shots, and an encouter with the barmaid.

Of course, all best guesses. Radar is best option now.

"Norfolk could miss out".

Gee thanks.

GFS 6z has location better than GFS 12z.

The 12z puts the start of this too far North and West,

What does this hold in store for tonight? (as if you haven't already looked),

Which looks like a direct hit for Medway. Direct. Hit.

We shall see ...

Stuck the extra camera battery on charge so if all fails, you have me to blame.

Prospects looking good so far!

Going to head to Farthing Common as it's the only decent viewpoint with a S/SW view in my area that's doesn't just overlook sea going to leave it a couple more hours yet as things aren't likely to get spicy (meteo term) just yet!
