So this is roughly how it works for me for evening viewing... seems to fit

now all we need to do is identify them in advance, lol..

interesting, does that work with the other disp[lays like the cracking one on the 14th around 11 pm?

didn't see you later post until had done the research on the 14th....But yes it does

here`s my take on it

current_daisy14j.thumb.png.7a24f4c74e72db64615a10ebd84c70d5.png

somewhere along this line of flotsam would has been the culprit and would have tied in with the images which were taken.... and the length they were visible for those who were not clouded out

spot on, with any sightings in the morning being 3 or 4 minutes back anti-clockwise

One thing that intrigues me.... how come the NLCs orbit clockwise when the atmosphere tracks anti clockwise from west to east? @Arnie Pie? anyone?

Ive just reminded myself about reading the daisy charts... as im an evening observer more than a dawn one, and, unless the timings have changed (we will see) evening viewings appear just before midnight on the two day old daisy chart... i guess dawn sightings will be more towards 5 /7 mins before midnight using the clock method.

hmm... frustratingly it seems the daisy charts are late being released, it hadnt changed by 9pm last night and ideally we need a few hours longer, so to plan..

Yes Bob, the main site which was used in the past to release the daily information, seems to have been (upgraded?)

Were we used to find our information 'Browse CIPS daily images' has not been working since the upgrade

Maybe, they haven`t started releasing the information yet, as it`s still so early into the season

3 days on the daisy chart is too far to get a forecast... so late releases arent helpful to us.

Your right Bob ... to many variants over that time period for a forecast to be attempted

But I`m guessing we`ll give it a go just for the fun of it

If we do get any display`s this season (into a new solar cycle)

I`m sure social media and euro camera`s will be able to give us the daily heads up

I`m working on a system of live streaming the view from my big camera rather than from Brumcam, which will aid in detecting fainter NCL`s

I`m looking forward to it all

Edit; Is it wrong to hope for a Tonga style eruption in Iceland

the problem with the euro cams is knowing which ones to view and are they clear... we need to know which cameras are at the same longitude as the uk, and whether nlcs will be visible here just because they are there..

What we could do with is to go back through the old posted camera links to make sure they are still valid

And with all of the newer cameras out there....create some kind of interactive page/ mappy thing

I'm getting a headache thinking about it......But it would be a helpful project for some of our more tech savvy younger members. What do you reckon Bob?

edit time for a new page

We certainly need a better more accurate method of predicting them, i have loads of eurocams linked it takes ages to trawl through .

Yep, start a new thread whenever you think its right.
