Could see it for a time at Sutton before the mid level cloud went and 'ate' it. Had a bit of kelvin helmholtz too illuminated by the limited visible NLC (not that noticeable in this longer exposure).

Nothing like Friday night's display. Pics at the Malahide Estuary.

A thin white band/line appeared sometime between 2 and 3.15.  Lost track of time, quite chilly up in the hills.

The colder it is the better, just a tip for ya.

Just took a look at sat24.com, yeah you are under a sheet, a clearance is pushing south, will it be enough in 4-5hrs time, it's hard to predict at times.

Thanks

Thanks Raindrops, the colder it is, the clearer the skies.  Glad of the chill though to keep me awake, kept having a sit in the car without the heating on.  I hung around after the band of NLC s disappeared because the first glows of sunrise out east were stunningly clear, I stood and watched it for a little while, we live in such a beautiful world.

why?.... what has surface temps in the UK got to do with mesospheric clouds 50 miles above the arctic?  We get cloud in the troposphere regardless of temps... id have thought surface pressure would be more of a player than temps. Higher the pressure fewer the cloud as a a generalisation.

The air quality is better for photos. Smog doesn't hang around as much.

Yeah I only stay around for the first half after that I become a bit tired. Maybe in July I'll hang around longer as the display lasts longer.

You're right we do live in a beautiful world, some fail to see it.

Lidars look good for tonight if you manage clear spells. No chance here with the cloud coming from the west (already has come).

It will be interesting if the the solid bank at the 3 day out area will still be there when the latest Aim is released

there has been a lull in Solar activity this passed week....So hopeful
