As it stands, February currently has more days over 6 hours sunshine (3) than August (2) so far.

That is genuinely dire  Not sure whether to laugh or cry, but stats like that (along with the winter solstice Dec 2020 being warmer than the summer solstice June 2021) really just sum up the UK's climate.

Currently 13.6c and drizzle here brilliant. Certainly paying for that sunny afternoon 2 days ago

10am in "summer" and so far our maximum temperature was achieved at midnight (15.9C). Garbage. Absolute garbage.

I was so hoping for a sunny and warm end to August...Im over on the mainland from the IoW and camping in my Bongo camper for only the second time this year.

On the Island I live just a few minutes walk from the beach...have I been on the beach this year? er...nope...

Bizarre.  BBC weather radio 5 this morning. 'Expect a cloudier day today'. And here we have.............brilliant sunshine! For the first time since Monday afternoon.  A bit fresh but after the horrid gloom of Tue/Wed it is a welcome sight.

Cloudy over here, so just looks like the cloud is just moving around.

Looking at the satellite picture, it is rather unusual with cloud in the East, then sun in the middle and then cloud in parts of the West.

Opposite here in London / Essex. Forecast as of yesterday had pretty much the same for today - mix of sun and cloud, but been nothing but fifty shades of grey all day.

The Western cloud is the weak cold front which had a perfect clearance behind it.

Shockingly enough I am in the sunny bit for a change!!! Damn cold in that wind and only 20c though. We peaked at 23 in the end yesterday!

Another absolute stinker here. Cloudy, windy and drizzle off and on all day. Depressing, it really is. One of the worst summers I can remember. Not so much for the rain, but the lack of sun and warmth.

This August has been truly dire (even by the shocking standards of recent August’s)

Head to the west of the Pennines.. for such an insignificant mountain range in World terms.. they have a mighty influence on conditions either side..

Autumn in full swing here, too with chilly temperatures (it’s scraped up to 18°C today) and a strong NW’ly wind. Some sunny spells after early rain and some nice convective cloudscapes but wish it was warmer

Who’d have thought the air would be warmed behind the cold front!

Almost 2 degrees warmer than yesterday with less of a head start!

Yet more grey. Fairly stiff, cool breeze. Very autumnal. Again. This constant blanket of cloud seems to have been over us for SO long, weeks and weeks with only the odd break in it. I can’t be the only one getting very fed up with this.

It’s amusing but sunshine makes all the difference in summer.

I was thinking we could have a similar situation as a Sunday in May 2020 when a 19c mid morning maximum became a 13c afternoon due to a weak cold front from the NE.
