I grew up in an old house without central heating, which we didn't have installed until 2010. So needless to say I am more or less accustomed to cooler room temperautres. I can just about manage at a room temp of 15 Celsius with extra layers of clothing. But below that is when I seriously start to consider having the heating on. So still a while to go yet.

Can't believe I'm actually considering sticking the heating on. Don't know whether the new place I'm in is just colder, but it certainly isn't warm in here.

I have ... once ... The wall said 21c but I was still cold lol!

The sky has turned blue here. Temp shot up to 22.7°C. Feeling quite lucky!

Same here, not many times this summer a day has turned out better than expected.

I can finally see blue sky in Devon, it's a miracle...Having to serve people all day I am looking forward to sitting in my garden in the warmth of the sun in peace and quiet in an hour

After a lovely June and July August has been poor locally.

I wouldn't bet against a dry settled Sept to compensate ..

Fingers crossed.

Your pretty much just having what the SE has had on and off for the last 3 months now, of course we down here are still suffering, though it has to be said this August has been somewhat drier than the previous months, though thats not exactly a huge improvement.

Anyway down here in the SE we've now passed into the top 30 all time wettest summers. Some uncertainty from the models in terms of how much more rain is to be expected but even if we have 0mm more this still puts us into the top 20% wettest summers which combined with any sunny spells coming in 6-8 day stints and the rest of the time dull and cloudy means this summer has a real poor feel to it down here. Did have a couple of nice days late last week and the next 30-45 days are still very much capable of that type of weather.

After a mostly decent week last week the punishment weather has arrived this week. Very gloomy with mediocre temperatures. At least we didn't have yet another wet weekend. This year has been an endurance test, a period you just want to get through as quickly as possible.

Says it all really that people can get excited about a tiny bit of sun and 22c in August

What a rubbish month it’s been.

Looking at the temperatures across Europe, I must confess that this north westerly must be one of the worst in many a year. The gloom over here has covered a good proportion of France and NW Europe. Parts of Belgium are struggling to reach the mid teens.

We might hit the mid twenties on Saturday, that is pretty Much then highlight and the bar isn’t that high.

Flying into Heathrow yesterday, I noticed how green everything was - a sure sign of a bad summer when the grass is lush green in August!

A christmas show for the neighbours ha! There they are looking out the window for some flakes so they can make snowballs and catch sight of something else ... Delightful!

I’d trade this useless summer now for a mellow autumn. A nice calm and warm September, a changeable October and a frosty November. I don’t usually chuck the towel in, but don’t see much cheer for the next fortnight.

Really found this Summer to be comfortable, great for working in. August hasn't been bad at all really, nothing to hot but also nothing to cold, coupled with low rain fall so all in all not bad at all. The remainder of the month looks much the same so more than happy. Bring on those Autumn days now!
