I agree with most, channel lows don't really happen much, last time in 2013. Easterlies in winter also seem to only deliver to the extreme east coast. Plumes also to the far east of Kent, heat also 20 odd miles inland, same with convective storms. It's very boring here compared to elsewhere in the country for a weather enthusiast.

I bet you get a lot of pleasant sunny weather in the low 20’s in summer though. I really like the climate of Western Cornwall, boring yes, but comfortable, 9-12°C and cloud/wind/rain in winter, 18-22°C and sunny in summer. Plenty of usable weather. You could always head up to the not too far away Dartmoor hills if you fancied a walk in the snow (and the Eden Project if you want heat!)

Far too warm here last night, it's a warm morning too, the only relief from the heat (set to be 28-29c around here today) is that we might get some more cloud this afternoon, with a chance of catching a storm or rain, but to be fair I'll take the cloud for a bit to be honest!

I got a 10k event at the weekend, and it's looking a tad different from the next few days for sure! Cooler and wetter!

Just typical that my towns summer events start this weekend, and it’s not looking great. Hopefully there will be some more good days to enjoy in august.

Looks like it could rise a fair few places by the end of this week with a lot of sunshine and heat to come.

Not bad for 9am

Yeovil officially leading the way at 0850 with 26C - models were hinting at 33C in parts of Dorset and Somerset last night. 26C before 9am certainly a good indication that’s on.

Clear blue skies one side of the building, towards the west. The other side facing the east has seen cloud slowly build during the morning. Might produce something interesting this afternoon? The forecasts suggest there is a 30% risk here for something during this afternoon.

From a totally selfish point of view, I love this weather and would quite happily keep it for the remainder of summer (we might actually get used to it that way!)

It was a bit too hot yesterday though wearing chinos and a blazer at a summer lunch party... all well and good if you can dress accordingly!

I think the high dew points are making most people feel a bit lethargic and irritable it will be long hot week if we keep the humidity - recent hot spells esp 2018 seemed to be much less humid and a bit more enjoyable!!??

The first half of 2018 especially. I remember it being very warm by day, but the low dew points and cool minima at night meant everyone was still able to sleep and stay fresh. Prolonged hot and humid weather just ends up making everyone sleep deprived and grouchy.

Am i right in thinking the humidity is proportional to recent rainfall? As it has been wet lately it creates more humidity whereas 2018 was very dry which gave Continental style dry heat?

It can certainly make a difference. There is some suggestion/evidence that the US plains storm season can be impacted to some degree by how much rainfall has fallen in recent months.

If everything is dry as a tinderbox then there's less evaporation/evapotranspiration. But the main factor is the air mass, and being an island nation it's quite difficult to get dry heat. Most of our heat is accompanied by dew points into the high teens/low 20s. In comparison, my holiday to Vegas a couple of years back had dew points well below freezing with temperatures pushing 30. Was odd having an ice cold beer with no condensation around the bottle!

Certainly noticeable with the cloud bubbling up here today. Crystal clear the last 2 days, a bit more instability today. Just a question whether they spark off into storms or not.

Another ECM temperature fail again here today. Nothing higher than 26c on the 00z run, and it's already 28c here at 1pm. Also has nowhere higher than 28c in the country when some spots have hit 30c already.

Loved the video. What direction is the camera facing WNW or something like that?

Also, any idea what was rising as the sun was setting, a planet?

Yes Vegas is quite extraordinary isn’t it. I was there in late August 2019 on business when it hit 42-43C. So weird not to sweat one bit - like walking into a hair dryer.

Gotta watch that hydration even more in those situations.

Bit more Cloud around today, can feel the temp drop slightly as they pass in front of the sun, along with a miniscule breeze that accompanies it that's definitely more than welcome.

It's currently 31C in my room.  Feeling very, very muggy too.  Last night was very warm so I resorted to sleeping with a wet towel and ice packs under my armpits  worked a treat!
