It might sound an exaggeration, but I haven't heard thunder like this in years.

Had a positive strike a couple of minutes ago, room lit up, ground shook, alarms going off - awesome!!!

Another positive strike - alarms going off again!! Sorry - getting a bit excited

I'll confirm it was no exaggeration! Not sure how accurate an Iphone Storm app is but it put the last strike pretty much in the neighbours garden. Certainly sounded like it. If this is my only storm of 2021 I wont complain

Seen a few CGs in the last 10 minutes. Camcorder is recording so I'll be able to share shots later. What a corker!

Direct hit on Bexley (SE London). Very close lightning, loud thunder, huge hail. Unexpected but a good start to 2021!

A good start? There had been nothing so could only improve.

1.5cm soft hailstones falling here. What a hellish spell of weather for the time of year we've had compared to last year!

This weekend could now be turning into something to keep a close eye on! Especially for the SE quadrant of the country.

Fantastic day today though for some!

A nice bit of activity around today for sure!

As for here, I managed to somehow be in the middle of every single shower/storm that passed from the west to the east today! It might seem unbelievable given the radar, but we managed to keep our washing outside drying rain-free all afternoon!

A couple of potent showers today. First had hail and sleet mixed in, and current shower has a few claps of thunder for good measure. If it's going to be like last summer here, this will be as good as it gets

Showers have mainly skirted around Lincoln today, just caught a few light showers on the edges of them, but have just had thunder and lightning from the latest shower passing just to the north, I saw 4 flashes from the cloud as well as hearing thunder.

Was very lucky to have such a good view of it really. I'd presume it would have had to have been the outflow from the Rochester cell that fired it up and pushed it NE further into the conflicting convergence area. On par with the 26th of June storm last year, very impressive!

That storm we had in Upchurch, north Kent beats anything we had last year!

Like wise - I found myself on the edge of everything last year. Seems that some of the best storms we have are on days where chances are really quite low.

Today definitely beat anything from last year. While it was hardly frequent lightning like we get with summer time plume events, the few flashes we did get were awesome with the best thunder I’ve heard comfortably in years. I think the last time I heard thunder that good was June 2011.

Way to end off the day, rainbow, connectivity and a possible funnel cloud though very far away and hard to photograph.

One of my best mates took this video of the London/Kent storms earlier. I can’t take any of the credit  but it captures what it was like.
