Thunder to the northwest and southeast and I’m in the sunny clear slot between the two again!

Nice mammatus ish on the edge of this cloud though.

like i said, it did die out before its reached here but a moderate shower with what i can only call “icy rain”.. big drops of rain with little bits of soft ice inside that splat when they hit the ground, it’s like hail started forming but didn’t quite get a chance or something

Looks like a shelf cloud developing

Do you happen to remember the impressive shelf cloud a few years ago that was over me towards west norfolk that you got an awesome photo of? that remains one of the best storms i’ve experienced

What’s with bedfordshire area getting lots of cells this year and Wellingborough getting nothing but a distant rumble or two once

Hopefully changes today, just want an overhead storm not a couple minutes of drizzle..

I actually prefer storms when they are in the distance as I find it more relaxing and not so worrying.

We have had absolutely nothing here at Brongest in Wales so far this year.

I’m never satisfied til i’ve had the excitement of torrential rain, shotgun thunder and bright flashes, always loved it!

Very little in the way of showers here but heard a rumble a few minutes ago. Looks dark to the SW

Just heard a couple of rumbles from a storm that developed to my NW. Only seen one flash.

I do indeed! Back in 2016 I believe that was. That was pretty epic.

Big Anvil towards my SW. Can't get a proper picture at the moment. But you can see it.

Different angle. Proper monster. Hopefully aided by the UHI effect.

2016 is often Overlooked as a season I feel for EA and the Southeast, yet it had some absolutely fantastic thunderstorm events. I vividly remember the 22nd-23rd June event for our area... Still one of my all time favourite Elevated night time thunderstorm events, purely for the lightning amounts and longevity of it (Spanned from 18:00 on the 22nd to around 08:00 on the 23rd)!

That particular event really felt like something you would witness in the states.

Definitely agree on that! It was that year I saw a big funnel cloud/potential tornado too, on a stagnant low pressure day like today! Capturing one with your own eyes is a whole different experience, and I can only imagine what seeing a full blown wedge tornado is really like over in the states!
