Over the past few weeks I’ve been getting quite serious about having a road trip and possible storm chase out in Germany. I believe it would be one of the best places to chase outside of the US, given it’s vastness and Autobahns, which would make for much more ideal chasing conditions than anywhere else on mainland Europe. Also to note, Germany certainly ranks close to top place for regular summer storms.

not sure what the other half would think to it, but it’s something I’ve been willing to do for ages, and this past horrific year has only increased my will to take it on!

I hope we are coming out on the other side for good now from this rotten pandemic, and wish the best for everyone!

GFS has been teasing at a potential plume later next week (and our first proper one of the year thus far) and one which looks likely to have a break down. Far too far out for excitement, but keeping an eye on it.

Remember the one we had in May 2018?

Oh yes! That was an amazing night and almost three years to the day! Hopefully might get a repeat this year - didn’t have any overnight storms last year so a bit starved.

Remembering all the Storms that I remember up to the end of 2018 to give a possible taster for is what to come.

Around 2012

My first memory of thunder, some distant rumbles of thunder where I used to live.

2014 or so

I remember a sudden developing thunderstorm after a dog show when I was at beavers for half an hour forked lightning and Hail were the starts of the show.

I also remember my saddest thunderstorm memory, just before a massive 30 degrees spell probably from a plume where a massive rain shower came over and there was close lightning at a beavers camp whilst the older kids were still outside we went under cover for a bit and when we came out there was an Ambulance and it turned out that a dinner lady had been struck by lightning.

There was also an overnight storm that was disputed as to whether it was going to happen and became a massive overnight storm.

2015

A few rumbles when I was at school that were pretty close.

A huge overnight storm that lasted for quite a long time.

Had a Thunderstorm pass just south of where I was with some nice rumbles and one of the darkest clouds I've ever seen.

2016

An overnight storm after a hot day that was very nice and lasted for a long few hours with some very good cc's and cg's.

2017

Some rumbles of thunder at lunch time within a small distance of me.

Loud rumbles of thunder in Lesson continued on in the distance at lunch time.

Another overnight storm with constant lightning about 5 strikes a second and very loud thunder.

2018

An overnight storm again.

Went to Florida that year and witnessed too many Thunderstorms to count.

I'm busy moving house on Saturday the 5th, so you can basically guarantee a good plumey breakdown that day  Sod's law!

I've got a track record for these things! The amount of times I've managed to miss great storms due to poor-timed social or life events I can't get out of is quite something

Joking aside, goofus wants the main plume for this time next week, bringing the Atlantic back in behind it come the weekend. That'd work for me!

Tornado lasted for nearly 10 minutes just west of Bev half an hour ago or so. Phone pics and vid are useless (wide angle...) but here is a radar screenshot at the time in precisely the right location and direction of travel (zoom in on NW radar and you'll see it). Very unusual radar signature. Nice crowd watching it from here. Will check local twitter/ FB and see if anyone has some better pics

My stepdad said he saw a funnel cloud too around 4pm and it got halfway down from the cloud. He was driving in north Hull facing west. Was probably around the Skidby area at the time.

I saw it coming from that direction, on the ground, at 16:30 or so...

Another one was reported at 15:20 on the other side of the town near Tickton: that's two today and I did notice TC over that way at the time.

Impressive convection for a day that was supposed to be dry. I was looking towards this cell watching some rapidly rising scud but had to leave to take the husband for his covid jab.

PS I’d try to join the group but being from Hull I don’t think they’d let me in.

HUNSTANTON.WEBCAM

Watch a live video webcam of the main beach and promenade in Hunstanton, on the North-West Norfolk coast, in the UK.

Im under that big dark cloud, just had some very intense rain and a bit of hail! Clouds are moving fast too, for what should be a still day!

John, the person who runs the group lives in....Hull :-) I'd give it a try.
