Here's my punt for today.

Potential more organised storm risk from south wales across to the wash and up to the humber.

Hatched area represents the dead zone where nothing ever happens.

Red circle for supercell over Liverpool.

Won’t be anything within 20 miles of Merseyside today because wind and steering flow are from the sea. Small risk in next 2 hours as far west as widnes/St Helens before win veers too Westerly.

Absolutely leaden skies here this morning. While there is clear prospect for some heavy showers in the SE later, I’m hoping for a few cloud breaks to give a boost to any convection that does happen later, otherwise it might just be periodic bouts of heavy rain and no more.

Nice and sunny here, at the moment. I remain hopeful but also prepared for nothing.

*might* have just heard distant thunder from a small cell east of Hastings.

Edit: Oh yeah, distant crackly rumbles now!

Yep. Blue skies here in Somerset but I'm not forecast anything today but I'm remaining hopeful.

Heard a rumble of thunder from a moderate hailstorm that's just passed through Alsager where I'm currently staying at my sister's house about 10 mins ago. Also, wow skies are really darkening again like it's evening time!

Nice little surprise for us today! Shame it wasn't a direct hit though

Looks like  little potent line of storms developing in south wales today and evidence of maybe a convective line in the North West. On shore breezes in eastern coastal areas likely to play a part again. Think as the day goes on things will start to focus in more  eastern areas.

nmmuk3hrpreciptoday.thumb.png.98c10f57bf41fd3210e1f2b241d5cf4b.png

Tomorrow looks like more of the same except the maritime air looks a little less moist going upwards through the atmosphere.sound-WestMidlands-36.thumb.png.78a1211605f329c84d1d5aefcc1991b8.png

There is also a short wave feature shown up on some of the models coming in from the south west (Shows up on EUMetsat Imagery as well).

Winds still look light and instability is meagre but a slightly more focused convective environment might produce a few surprises.  East coast on shore winds also look like they will have a part to play again both today and tomorrow.

Just had a rumble of thunder here. No detectors picked it up, neither did my own.

Wimborne.

Likewise, just had a very loud rumble here....but doesn't appear to show up on detectors.

This would be from that line of showers to my west. Heading in this direction it seems.

Heard a rumble not long ago from South Wales direction. The responsible cell crossed the Severn Estuary and brought just steady rain.

Don’t know why that last picture is so blurred but here’s a better picture this time looking north. Shame about the roof
