Doesn’t seem real! I’ve just witnessed the first proper night lightning of the year, with a whiteout along with it! Just clipped the edge of that hailcore!

Seeing some distant lightning to my NE. The actual storm is hidden behind some trees and I'm able to make out some of the flashing.. they must be quite bright!

Was just about to get to sleep, and started seeing a flash every 10 seconds! I’ve spent the last half hour just taking it all in. Fantastic start to May given the Synoptics were not even too favourable of a storm certainly of this magnitude

One from Herne Bay. One of the flashes I saw earlier.

You know when we're desperate for not just heat but storms too when we see one lightning strike and called it "intense"

Had a little storm yesterday - sorry for late post, was quite poorly at the time. Arrived about 4.45pm from the NW. Four flashes and bangs right overhead. Biblical rain. Lasted about 20 mins or so. Just a small pulse storm but nice to finally get off the ground in 2021 after a dismal start last month.

Finally some nice convective skies around in Worthing.

It has been over a year since I last heard thunder here, and that single clap of 2020 proved to be the one and only. Here's hoping for a better year this year!

I thought that I was thunder deprived here in Pagham with just 4 days in 2020 - all minor occasions, 2 each in April and August. Yet to get off the mark this year so far.

I really don't trust UKV after all the letdowns last year!

Ahhh, just got the first tingle of thunderstorm excitement this year from that chart... Hoping that sort of scenario can count down, as it would be a much earlier start to the season than my May 24th prediction! haha

Most models have showed something clipping Kent for a few days now. The worry with a Kent Clipper is when the models already show it taking that path 48 hours out, it can only really be corrected eastwards nearer the time and then miss us altogether.

I think on Sunday I'm going to have to make a call whether I chase to Kent or not! I'm moving back to the Isle of Wight in a few weeks so it'd likely be my last chance to jump in the car and chase on the 'mainland'.
