It'd be a step in the right direction, but the jet would need to be a good few hundred miles further west than that. As you'll see on the corresponding pressure charts for that date on the same model run, that would take any low pressure systems up out of France and to the east of the UK, so any unstable air would be far to the east (Germany etc) and we'd be on the 'cold side' of the jet in more stable conditions.

Something better on the cards now or at least it looks like that, a Plume would be nice certainly is cold.

Just had a reasonable heavy shower, big blobs of rain, hail and dare i say it some sleet?

A nose on the radar shows i could of been right, showing some green.

Turned quite cold and windy.

I didn't hear any, but my detector is flashing up.

Not surprising given the hail showers around the vicinity.

Just glanced at this forum for first time in months, just 10 seconds before a clap of thunder in Oxfordshire!

Didn’t get much from it here as it just passed to the south. The back edge of the shower that gave those rumbles is visible to the SE

While another shower appears to be approaching from the west.

A bit of lightning towards Cheshire a short while ago (1pm'ish) with the TCu seen from here as it was developing.

Heaviest cells to the West are just out of reach and slipping to far South to observe

Finally some nice convective skies around in Worthing.

It has been over a year since I last heard thunder here, and that single clap of 2020 proved to be the one and only. Here's hoping for a better year this year!

First few rumbles of thunder of the year here!

Sky is jet black. Not seen any lightning though (although might have more luck if I wasn't stuck in a meeting).

Potent little storm coming my way. Good way to finish off a day which started with an Exam.

Got my office window open in case there was any thunder...as it is on the side of the house though you can't see flashes well.

Two minutes into my meeting (just internal colleagues thankfully), this gun shot bang made me jump out of my skin and yell fudge me at the top of my voice...heart still going ten to the dozen.

Another few rumbles and cracks too. Pleasant surprise!

Direct hit on Bexley (SE London). Very close lightning, loud thunder, huge hail. Unexpected but a good start to 2021!

That's where I am

Wowsers, London area and beyond has exploded into life!! What a nice little surprise. CAPE wasn’t modelled to be too great today, but the shear is decent today, that’ll be what’s providing a bit of organisation and less disruption of updrafts.

Stuck under a persistent shower train at the moment!

It might sound an exaggeration, but I haven't heard thunder like this in years.

Had a positive strike a couple of minutes ago, room lit up, ground shook, alarms going off - awesome!!!

Another positive strike - alarms going off again!! Sorry - getting a bit excited
