So close to very heavy rain got mighty dark all of a sudden and here comes the rain. All of a sudden grass looking so much healthier. Safe to say the dry spell is well and truly over

One of the dogs and I were woken in the early hours (around 2am-ish) by the loudest crash of lightning and almighty rumble of thunder.  The rain was torrential, totalling 12.7mm in just 35 minutes. By comparison, throughout the rest of the early hours since, there’s only been 3mm since.

Oh goody, there are some lovely towering shower clouds forming round us as we write, maybe finally get a proper thunderstorm.

Make up for the complete lack of them this week contrary to the forecast, yesterday being a repeat performance of cloud and sunny intervals with light winds and a max of 18c (very useable day mind)...

Currently 15.3c with very light winds and a warm overnight low of 14.1c.

We had some proper rainfall overnight with as much rain falling in one night as in the whole month of July, near enough.

Temperature 15.6⁰C up from a minimum of 13.2⁰C at 05:59, humidity 91%, wind 0 to 4mph northwesterly, pressure is 993.9hPa rising slowly, there’s been 37.4mm of rain since midnight and 51.2mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 8/8.

6z just out, the showers and storms forecast to near enough stall through Fife I'd say if it pans out that way flooding will be a distinct possibility animmho7.gif widely +30mm with 50+ in some places nmm_uk1-25-19-3.png?08-10

Shower yesterday clear to see how elevated the bases were 20210807_144641.thumb.jpg.e62f2f4551a66362c58b91557d5e54e3.jpg20210807_145509.thumb.jpg.ac3d8a6f2e34b7145b7b33fdaaa8ef50.jpg

Torrential downpours - yep.

Humid sticky feeling - yep.

Towering shower clouds - yep.

Crash and bang action - nope.

Aberdeenshire weather can be so darned frustrating.

It seems that all the rain that didn’t fall in July has fallen today with a maximum rate of fall of 235.2mm/hr. at 17:46. That makes 69.4mm today so far and 81.0mm in the last 24 hours. I’m just home having driven through a 12-mile-long carwash, which made the journey interesting.

Still no sign of thunder or lightning though.

A mostly sunny morning here with a max of 18.3C then a very heavy and prolonged shower at lunchtime with just one big clap of thunder. TV went off and the back garden was under a bit of water but nothing worse.  Mostly cloudy since then with steady lighter rain on and off for the last three hours or so.

Some really heavy showers on Deeside today but it seems to be drying up now and looking at the radar hopefully we’ve seen the last of it for a while. We didn’t have any more thunder either but I did hear of folk losing their internet in the town following the storm in the early hours.

Must have had more rain easily last couple of days than we've had last couple of months looks like more rain for most of the week after today's downpours
