Been up in the Great Glen area for a couple of days before heading out to the Hebridies at the end of the week. Been pretty wet but today has been much brighter so far. Cloud starting to break briefly over the Nevis range yesterday in the photos and from today a brighter outlook from a section of the Great Glen Way. Finally someone forgot how long their camper was when turning in this car park!

Cells likely to be popping off tomorrow think that's the highest CAPE forecast for here so far this storm season nmm_uk1-28-26-3.thumb.png.d2275d9c36882c775aaf84022a93d1e4.png

Well, the last few days have been the pits weatherwise with continuous Permagloom™ interspersed with periods of moderate rain.

Not cold though, the low diurnal temperature range continues with the range 12-16c the last couple of days.

This is the closest there's been to a chink in the cloud shield....

July so far is definitely turning out to be the polar opposite of June in terms of sunshine and rain amounts.

The extraordinary heatwaves in the Arctic continue, now the turn of Scandinavia.

Today started dry and a little cloudy and ended up dry and a little bit more cloudy. That's progress for you.

Warmest of the day was 20.8deg.C at 17:14 and the coolest was 7.8deg.C at 01:36, most humid was 92% at 03:03 and least humid was 55% at 12:51, there's been hardly any wind at all today but in the odd puff a southerly source could be detected, pressure has increased from a minimum of 997.4hPa at 10:37 to 1002.3hPa now, there's been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover has risen from 3/8 this morning to 5/8 later in the afternoon.

Had 1 or 2 light showers. More are expected but might miss the worst of them. Brightened up at the moment and still quite warm

Another non-descript day of weather.

The usual Permagloom™ bar a few breaks in the cloud in the morning and now this evening; afternoon a damp affair with rain off and on.

The striking low diurnal range continues, overnight low of 11.4c, max today of 15.1c accompanied with calm conditions.

This new weather channel is going to be interesting! - link

Another day of Aberdeenshire Permagloom™, though at least it was the light grey variety that teases you with hints of the blue skies above...

image.thumb.png.4c55d77134f9685573b6081a8b5e4faa.png

The low diurnal range continues with a overnight low of 12.4c and a max of 17.4c, dry with light winds.

Very mild outside just now, 15c with calm conditions allowing you to literally hear Gastropods murdering half the garden.  I do wonder what people are going to do, especially commercially, when Metaldehyde slug pellets are banned next year as ferric phosphate pellets are not a very effective alternative (well, according to our farmer friend).  More food for the local hedgehogs I suppose, though the one that frequents here seems to prefer the kids cat nuts!

Felt I had walked on to a movie set this week when Ii came upon a surveillance van (eg NCIS ) parked beside one of our neighbouring woods complete with side opening door and an operator at a bank of computer screens.Needn"t have been concerned as it was only the UHI red squirrel surveillance team who had trapped all the squirrels in this small wood.It is destined to be clear felled anytime now ( Have seen it clear felled twice in my lifetime now)  so they have put  radio collars on the squirrels  and will track them to see where they go when it is felled. They trapped five which seems about right for the area of wood.

A few very dreich days now with high humidity, currently 16c but lots of growth again.

Last big pick of strawberries yesterday a short but sweet season.20210708_131010.thumb.jpg.c87f06f177fe214070a38c57ac7e093c.jpg

Textbook example of smirry rain so far today, relentless and drenching even though the rain radar infers benign conditions.

Light winds and 14c.

No weather to report over the past couple of days, just the default overcastitude. Today similar; overcast, warm enough, light breeze, no rain. Yawn.

Temperature maximum was 19.0deg.C at 15:24 and minimum was 13.4deg.C at 04:26 and currently 16.4deg.C, humidity is 83%, wind 3 to 5mph southwesterly, pressure 1018.9hP (height adjusted), there's been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 8/8.

At 07:00 the sky was clear of clouds and it looked like it was going to be a bright, sunny day. Not now. Completely overcast. Again.

Temperature was 21.6deg.C at 11:43 up from a minimum of 10.5deg.C at 01:43 but now fallen back to 21.1deg.C, humidity is 61%, wind 0 to 4mph northwesterly, pressure is 1014.3hPa falling slowly, there's been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 8/8.

Very thick fog to start the day, that soon clearing to give a reasonably sunny morning - felt like more sunshine in those few hours than there has been in total since the start of the month!

Now overcast with some showery looking cloud forming over to the NW, the light winds exemplified by how the rain radar shows the showers building with barely any shift in location.

Currently 18c with the blue sky holding on to our SE.
