Very nice in the sun here and dry today but raining now. Driving from Lairg to Lochinver yesterday morning cracking drive never fail to enjoy it and very little traffic either.

All in all a very nice day even although it started clouding in from early afternoon onwards. Temperature got up to 14.2⁰C at 14:07, maximum gust of wind was 6mph south-southeasterly at 13:48, pressure stabilised at 1015.1hPa and the rain started at 19:10 with 1.8mm having fallen so far. The next couple of days look squidgy.

Beautiful day yesterday, proper autumn loveliness! Back to normal today, horizontal rain and incredibly mild at 17.5c. Central heating not required today then!

Just what I was thinking it's went from Autumn cold to Summer warmth with a flick of a switch. Least the rain's stopped but more is on the way

The village here is just to the east of the yellow warning for rain zone but even so I expected it to be wetter. Spent most of the day up in Clarkston on the southside of Glasgow where it was around 17⁰C and the drizzle was pretty constant. According to my weather station the village was pretty similar.

Maximum temperature was 16.7⁰C at 14:30 up from a minimum of 12.8⁰C at midnight, humidity is 90% up from a minimum of 88% at 06:38, wind has been 4 to 11mph southerly, pressure is 1016.8hPa steady, there’s been 1.6mm of rain so far today and 4.2mm in the last 24 hours and cloud cover has been 8/8 all day.

Me and my big mouth – it is now wetter. Considerably wetter. I’ve just had to reverse the Landy out of the ford on the back road to the village with my tail between my legs. I usually quite like going sideways in a car, but not whilst floating.

Temperature now maximum was 15.3⁰C  at 12:50 up from a minimum of 14.4⁰C at 08:40 and now 15.1⁰C, humidity is 91%, wind 1 to 8mph southerly, pressure is 1025.0hPa rising slowly, there’s been 20.4mm of rain today and 27.2mm in the last 24 hours, and cloud cover is 8/8 and thick enough for it to be quite dark already.

What a strange day.

Wet for a good few hours in the morning then a nice summers afternoon with light winds

The weird part - the temperature.  It was an overnight low of 14c (checks date... yep, not July...) and a daytime max of 16c.

And it's still 15c outside right now.

Wacky weather, not often you get a diurnal range of 2c!

The heating hasn’t been on yet this autumn and the temperature inside is still 17.3⁰C so, with all that saved cash, I might buy myself an ice cream cone.

Temperature outside had maximum of 15.1⁰C at 03:38 and minimum of 14.1⁰C now, humidity is 92%, wind speed from 2 to 11mph south-southeasterly, pressure is 1024.7hPa steady, there’s been 2.0mm of rain today and 3.0mm in the last 24 hours with light rain now and cloud cover is 8/8.

The light rain continued pretty much unabated until 6pm at which point the sun came out. Briefly.

Temperature now down to 7.7⁰C, humidity at 93%, maximum gust of wind was 13mph southeasterly at 13:09, pressure now up to 1028.2hPa and rising slowly, rainfall total for today is now 4.8mm and cloud cover reduced to 7/8 just before sunset.

A very wet morning and early afternoon with a clearance to classic Aberdeenshire Permagloom™, with just a touch of blue....

trtht.thumb.jpg.6bfdb981fe7e4d3bd2bab8abee8ebd39.jpg

Light winds and again the temperature really noteable.

Hovering between 14.2c and 15.1c overnight and during the day.

Then at teatime, bang, the temperature plummeted rapidly (currently 6.1c).

Well illustrated by the temperature graph from one of the nearby online weather stations...

A changeable sort of day really, generally a sort of bright overcast but with short spells of sunshine and a few light showers interspersed throughout.

Temperature high of 14.0⁰C at 14:08 up from the low of 7.0⁰C at 06:49 and now 10.6⁰C, humidity 82%, wind 0 to 12mph westerly, pressure is 1028.5hPa steady, there’s been 0.2mm of rain today and 0.4mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover has varied between 6/8 and 8/8.

A wet start early this morning then dryer toward lunchtime then just as i was about to get the lawnmower out the drizzle came in... still not particularly cold but that looks like its about to change in the coming week.

The forecast sunny day ended up being a mainly cloudy affair with just a few bright periods.

As for the forecast 1% chance of precipitation - hah, heavy shower of rain for 15mins in the afternoon.

Time for some re-education of the computer at the Met Office.

Light winds, max of 12c.

It's actually getting quite noticeable now how few gales there have been over the last couple of years, another sign of climate change?

There is even a term for the phenomena - Global Terrestrial Stilling

Mind you, not a lover of gales considering the damage they can do to tile roofs (give me slate ones any day).

Nice sunset again.

Quite a nice morning, for October, with decent brightness, only a light breeze and just the hint of a chill in the air. All in all, very usable.

Temperature currently maximum for the day at 13.1⁰C up from a low of 7.9⁰C at 07:03, humidity is 82%, wind 2 to 8mph westerly, pressure is 1028.7hPa falling slowly, there’s been no rainfall in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 7/8.

Worth looking North tonight for you folks, As a pretty strong Solar storm could produce some nice Aurora IF sky's are clear

Not sure I buy the global stilling chat at all. It was less then a decade since some very significant storms came through here, I don’t think we can say we’ve witnessed a discernible change in climate within that time.

What troubles me about a lot of climate change discourse is how inconsistent it can be. From arguments whether or not specific weather events can be attributed to it, through to the articles in the 2000s about whether our children or grandchildren would see snow again, it’s difficult to take some of this seriously.

Some very light rain around teatime has produced 0.2mm of rainfall, the temperature is now 10.8⁰C, pressure is down to 1026.1hPa and still falling slowly, wind has dropped to 1mph westerly and the 8/8 cloud cover means no northern lights are visible here.

After another very soggy evening and night, today is a drying out process.

Mind you, we are rapidly approaching that time of the seasons when the surfaces remain permanently damp going by how slow things are drying up today.

Permagloom™ once again with a few chinks in the grey showing a lovely light blue beyond.

Light winds, rather chilly 7.9c; still no sub-zero temperature here this autumn.
