Today was mostly overcast and we were drenched in the village here with, erm, 1.0mm of rain today, or 1.2mm if one prefers the 24-hour measurement.

Maximum temperature was 18.8⁰C at 12:54 up from a minimum of 12.1⁰C at 05:56, humidity went from 92% at 01:26 to 68% at 15:28, wind was 0 to 10 mph in my sheltered garden but probably twice that elsewhere as it was a westerly, pressure rose from 998.3hPa at 02:07 to 1004.7hPa at 20:25, there was a tiny wee bit of rain today and cloud cover was pretty consistently 8/8 throughout.

It's currently light rather than dull or bright, dry, calm and a pleasant temperature. This is what we in Scotland usually call 'Summer'.

Temperature up to 17.7⁰C from a minimum of 12.8⁰C at 05:10, humidity is 73%, wind 0 to 3mph north-northeasterly, pressure is 1003.6hPa steady, there’s been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is a fairly beefy 8/8.

A warmer day today with a max of 18.0c, that being the only change from yesterday's weather.

Permagloom™ once more, and the long range forecast suggests the grey (but dry) muck will continue for at least a week.  Lovely

On different tack, was given a present of a woodcrete nest box last year to replace a wooden one that had seen better days.  What a stunning success it has been, now onto the third brood of sparrows from it (the third brood started fledging today).  In contrast, the old wooden one never had anything in it bar a wasps nest one year!  Expensive accomodation but it does seem to be worth it.

Not a sniff of thunder over the past few days... rather disappointing this is the summer equivalent of snow disappointment lol

Well, back to normal then. Dull grey boring with ocasional wee exciting bursts of drizzle. Too wet to dry the washing ootside and too warm to dry it at the radiators inside. Whooopee.

Had a wee bit of patchy rain last night but nothing major. Considering what we could have had this week all a bit of a let down but the heatwave well and truly disappeared

The sun has just broken through for the first time today and the temperature jumped to 18.1⁰C up from a minimum of 9.3⁰C at 04:00, humidity is 66%, wind is 1 to 8mph westerly, pressure is 1006.6hPa steady, there’s been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is 7/8.

Meanwhile my preparations for the Second Test in South Africa have progressed as well as I hope those of the Lions have gone. Timing is now the thing; I don’t want to peak too soon.

13c to start day with a fresh NW wind so we have" Orkney weather" today but for me its bliss being able to work outside without becoming drenched in sweat.

A high of 11.4C here so far today with winds from a northerly direction. We certainly felt the difference when out walking the dog this morning, especially with the occasional bout of light rain.

Chilly mostly dry day with a maximum of 13c just the odd drizzly shower. Reminiscent of winter with small showers coming across the Firth from the north on a moderate  NW wind with excellent visibility.

Well the first day of the last month of summer continued the trend for this amazing season; warm, dry, bright from dawn to dusk and quite often sunny. What's not to like? Plus I got a bit of fly fishing in at the loch behind my daughters farm, but unfortunately the enormous trout I caught was far too big to fit in a photo. What are the chances, eh? Anyway, this is a weather forum so I took some pictures of clouds. And cows, which did fit-in to a photo.

Maximum temperature was 20.3⁰C at 14:47 now reduced o the minimum for the day at 9.2⁰C, humidity is 85%, wind 0 to 11mph westerly, pressure is 1013.6hPa rising slowly, there’s been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover is now down to 1/8.

Last two days a continuation of the chilly Aberdeenshire Permagloom™ theme, yesterday being the brighter of the last two days with hints of blue sky at times.

A max today of just 14.1c, which really is a bit woeful for the start of August.   Temperatures are on the up in the next few days though if the Met is to be believed.

A few light showers of rain yesterday and overnight, otherwise dry with light NW winds.

Trip to Aberdeen yesterday for first time in quite a few months.  Goodness the city is looking tired and rundown, you can really tell when you enter the city council area going by the road conditions with potholes everywhere (Aberdeenshire tends to do a better job at dealing with those).

Union Street full of shut shops, and you could host a horticultural expedition going by the number of trees and shrubs growing out of the roofs.  Really shocking state actually, and you do wonder where all the oil wealth went to over the last few decades - just read that the city council is £1.189 billion pounds in debt which explains a lot about the mess the city is in.

Another naff summer's day.

Overcast, bar brief 15 min period of sunshine at 4pm, but dry.  Light to moderate E/SE wind making things feel autumnal, max of 15.9c.

We're flying back home to Canada in two weeks, just came for a holiday to see family and to see Scotland. Morag's youngest daughter is with us and she's never been here before so we're trying to show her around.

Have you found your snowy idyll yet?

Ahh bet its been good to be back.. safe travels on your return to Canada.

We collect keys this Friday. 130m asl and further inland so im hoping for a better winter. Obviously wont come close to your winter wonderland. Still all good with everything over there then??
