Very wet drizzly start to the day only brightening up after 1.00pm but remaining very sultry all day and getting more so this evening with cloudier skies.Maximum of 23c this afternoon. The humidity brought out the thunder bugs/harvest mites in their thousands so outside work not pleasant as I get bitten all the time by them as they crawl through your hair. A few thundery looking clouds have appeared this evening so  I  can"t wait for fresher weather behind the forecast storms.

Was a very sticky humid night here in Ellon, dry early morning quickly replaced by heavy rain that has now died away to the North, looking at the radar and it appears there is a more organised band of heavy rain working northwards towards Aboyne, Banchory and Aberdeen. Will it make it all the way up to me?? Didnt think radar watching in summer could be fun but im actually enjoying this..

Amber storm forecast just issued for more eastern, central and northern areas... Not sure why the good storms keep avoiding the west other than I now live here  Edinburgh and Fife in line for another possible flash  flooding event!

Couple of UKV charts, some isolated storms in the west becoming more organised, banding together and spreading North along the amber warning area.

Then we have an amber warning for the Inverness area on Wed/Thurs as it all stalls.

As the famous weather forecasting duo, Ron Roker and Lyndsey De Paul, once advised, “One drop of rain on your windowpane doesn’t mean to say there’s a thunderstorm comin'.” I might add that no drops of rain, and no rain-bearing cloud, and bright sunshine very probably mean that there won’t be a thunderstorm any time soon. I mention this because the Met Office reckons that I’m being blitzed as I type, and I’m not. Not even nearly.

Temperature now up to 20.0⁰C from 13.5⁰C at 04:22, humidity is 70%, wind is 2 to 5mph southwesterly, pressure is 1005.3hPa falling slowly, there’s been no rain in the last 24 hours (nor in the last fifteen days,) and cloud cover is 5/8 high level overcast.

13th successive glorious day, with more hot sunny  here, although nice as it has been longing for a good storm now as it is so humid and sticky.  Grass is rapidly turning brown.
Some impressive cloud heights now beginning to build to the south and south west, while in 2nd pic looking north east still clear blue, at least rain held off long enough to get new hen barn water tight.

Radar looks like its bursting into life.. Perth looks like its getting action along with the crieff area.. @edo and @Polar Gael must be getting on the action.. the south west of England seems to be the buzy place this afternoon too..

We had a biblical downpour and some large cracks of thunder but no actual visible lightning. Now in Amber area so hopefully some exciting storms without any flooding for anyone. We have just built a 30sqm wooden gazebo which I was delighted with until the rain came in sideways in the wind in the downpour yesterday so going to need to add some sides as these downpours severity look like they are more common these days.

A very murky day of Permagloom™, with one brief light shower of rain in the morning to liven things up.

Light SE winds and feeling warm, even though there has been no sunshine, with a max of 20.5c (in fact temperatures have actually been rising all day, that is the current temperature).

Multitude of weather warnings but looks like the most severe weather will be to our west.

It’s been a lovely day in Edinburgh again today even though we are in the Amber zone,,,no sign of any storms here most of the action seems to be further North

Interesting explanation from SEPA about the amber warnings and the impacts/concerns they envisage for Scotland this week.

Still raining here with thunder and lightning  all round . These continuous storms are becoming more frequent  as I only remember single storms  in the afternoon clearing  to   a fine evening as  a child More evidence of climate change.⅚
