So maybe  moving to Siberia is an option then? I mean, instead of Provence?

Well, there is the guarantee of getting snow and frost every year and baking hot summers, the wonders of a continental climate rather than the maritime type we endure!

Talking of maritime, torrential shower of rain last 15mins, so much for the dry forecast

It used to be that Scotland  had two seasons; Winter and August. It now seems to have changed to Winter and April because we're going backwards weather-wise at the moment. Brrrrr! Tomorrow is to be cold with rain and wintry showers apparently. Oh joy...

Maximum temperature today was 11.3deg.C at 15:33 up from a minimum of -1.2deg.C at 06:08 and currently 9.8deg.C, humidity is 59%, wind is 0 to 5mph and swirling about all four corners of the compass, pressure is 1020.0hPa steady, there's been no rain in the last 24hours and cloud cover is 7/8.

A mostly sunny morning here too and feeling milder but by lunchtime the clouds had built up, it cooled and we had some showers with hail though not as intense as in recent days. Highest temp for a while this morning with 12.3C from a min of 3.4C. It has hovered around the 8C mark this afternoon though.

When were we last on the South side of the jet stream?

-1.2C last night, the sixty ninth air frost. GO to a max of 9.1C in the afternoon, but a hail shower and a keen wind meant the afternoon walk was bracing. Forgot my hat.

A tree has come down in the local copse/wind break in the couple of months since I poked around in there, probably during late March when we had that very strong northerly - quite the rip:

And tomorrow evening's wintryness moving back a bit to Tuesday early hours:

This is getting ridiculous, a heavy and prolonged shower of hail/graupel early afternoon turned everything temporarily white. It was a accompanied by a 3c drop in air temp too.

In contrast I took the dog out for a walk in the morning and had overcompensated with my clothing as it actually felt warmish in the sunny and calm conditions.

Really could do with some temps in the mid teens at least, today's max was a mere 7.5C.

Not the best of pics but cracking sunset over the snowy Ben Asynt , looks like more snow to come this week.  Any bets on snow in June this year?.....

The temperature started dropping around half-ten this morning and the rain started just the back of eleven. The garden is making a noise like a child sooking the last of its milkshake through a straw.

Temperature maxed out at 6.7deg.C at 10:25 up from a minimum of 2.3deg.C at 01:21 and is currently 4.7deg.C, humidity is 86%, wind 3 to 6mph southeasterly, pressure is 1001.4hPa dropping like a stone, there's been 3.0mm of rain in the last two hours and cloud cover is 8/8.

Are we allowed to mention the election here or is this a politics-free zone still? Anyone?

Oh I give in, 5.6C, a blustery wind and it's just started raining, the woodburner is getting lit.

@Hairy CeltI doubt it, even mentioning the B word these days is probably pushing it, even if it is in relation to moving somewhere warmer .

Snapshot of 16:00: Forecast temperature of 4C here at that time! (Probably about a degree too low)

Windy as well!

Good news is @shuggee is still at risk of a wintry mix.

How far from Broad Law are you? Full blown Winter conditions up there tomorrow!

Tuesday 03:00

Broad Law is just along the road south of shuggee towers @Mr Frost, probably 6 miles as the crow flies.  At 17h00 it's 2.7C and sleeting sideways. Dreadful. Going to leave the outside cottage lights on this evening to see how this develops as the showers rush down later.... Wet snow on roofs at Leadhills: http://www.winterhighland.info/cams/lowtherhill/

Seventieth air frost at -1.0C last night.

Sorry, consensus is no as it may be divisive so stick to the weather please.

Here cold rain at 5C. Looking at the webcams most roads are clear of snow apart from Glenshee and Amulree. Quite low there at 800 feet asl. Edit pic at Amulree now mostly blocked as cam has snow on it.

Same road nearer Aberfeldy.

looking at the April stats

Scotland mean temp 4.6C 12th coldest tied with 1973&1929 , 6th driest also frostiest April on record

East Scotland mean temp 4.4C 10th coldest tied with 1989&1918, 4th driest

@Mr Frost might be a chance for you tomorrow, think the heaviest of the convective line will be across southern Scotland extending down through the Pennines and possibly southern parts of England probably hail along it with the cold air rushing in animucw0.thumb.gif.6bddd25d1633540696cf8b28ce53e449.gif animdil4.thumb.gif.c486dd490c9cd61e1320632c066d0066.gif
