Cool wet with NE wind off the Firth and outbreaks of rain. Crops looking better for the rain but temperature at 6c is not doing much for growth.

Sunny here but cooler, black cloud in the north west though.  Thermometer at back door says 10C but that's with the sun full on it - we really need a weather station!!

Paper work day for farm assured visit .Have just let cows out for their daily visit to a grass field  so will probably come in fairly quickly in the afternoon. If it dries up later this week will probably  put them out full time with silge to top up on .

Grey, cold and damp.

Light drizzly rain off and on until mid afternoon, now drying up and even hints of some brightness.

Feeling like winter out with temperature hovering round 6c, just as well the wind has been light!

Yes 5.5c here as well and some very black looking clouds coming in off the Firth giving occasional bursts of rain. Could easily be a November day. Mountain forecasts are talking of coastal hail showers for the rest of the week. The cold April continues.

And just to add...more air frosts expected before the month is over!

Planning Outlook

Staying cold into the weekend with higher mountains typically near to freezing point, although there will be some diurnal range of freezing level; frost common into many valleys overnight. Wind often fairly light, particularly into the weekend. Showers with hail, initially toward north & eastern coasts in the mornings will break out more widely inland into the afternoons. Showers locally frequent, but precipitation amounts mostly small, so still very dry underfoot. The air generally very clear, with cloud often above the hills away from showers. Next week may bring more widespread precipitation as lower pressure moves in; likely staying cool, especially in the Highlands.

Latest ECM monthly delivers below average temperatures into mid May for Scotland.

We will all appreciate a sustained warm/hot spell (one week at the very least!) when it finally arrives!

All the best!

With any luck some of the ski centres may get a few days end of season skiing in the next couple of weeks.

In a word: minging. Cold, damp and breezy and thoroughly unpleasant for late April. Felt more like December. Temperature stuck at 7c this afternoon. Quite a contrast to the dry sunny weather of the last few weeks!

Cool start at 4.5c but sun trying to break through now. Small wintry looking showers out to the N and E over the Firth. More showers overnight have helped the crops.

Cloud has bubbled up but least we've seen sun (unlike the last 2 days) quite a contrast compared to last week

interesting image.thumb.png.d93cf7722faae11fb5c66cec01786d40.png my weather station had a fast drop within 15 minutes of dewpoint (3 and a half degree fall) and humidity (temperature didn't move much) wasn't a shower not sure what caused it

'Some brightness earlier in the morning here at first but since then cloudy with showers. In heavier burst there has been hail, refrozen rain and graupel. Did have a max of 9C but feels colder than that in the breeze.

Well broken cloud this morning has been replaced with less well broken cloud this afternoon and it's still a tad on the cool side, however I'm not complaining as it's a perfectly usable day.

Temperature maximum today was 11.3deg.C at 14:47 up from a minimum of 1.3deg.C at 05:41, humidity is 51%, wind 3 to 6mph northeasterly with a maximum gust of 16mph at 10:14, pressure is 1016.0hPa falling slowly, there's been 0.2mm of rain today and cloud cover is 7/8.

Another late winter's day when out of the sun, kids went out earlier with their hats and gloves on as they said they were too cold

Max of 7.9c and mainly cloudy until mid afternoon when the sun made more of an appearance.

Dry bar one light hail shower at lunchtime.

Light winds throughout.

Some nice cloudscapes to end the day...

Much brighter today and the north-easterly has dropped right back.  Not a bad day really.

Spoke too soon - the afternoon was marred by heavy hail showers and temps down to 6C. And there I was, off to physio in shorts!

The sunny weather of last week is a rapidly fading memory.

Overnight low of -0.8c.

Wind has picked up compared to recently with quite a stiff northerly.

Now showery with the temperature currently 4.8c.

Not a pleasant day to be outside, feels bitterly cold.
