Morning all,

No lying snow here this April but after a couple of rainshowers yesterday we did see snow falling in a heavier shower yesterday evening. A cold night followed, -1.3c the low in Pittenweem, -4c at Leuchars.

Lovely sunny start to Sunday.

Another cracking morning, first pic looking south towards deeply snow covered hills and second Ben Assynt popping up and catching the morning sun. Minus 5.8c as a minimum with rock hard frost. Many skiens of geese flying north who might be going back south at this rate!  Looking back we had snow here 9-12th May lasy year including a good covering on the 10th and the year before  we had snow 3rd May to 8th  with a covering on the 3rd, 4th and 8th plus wet snow falling on the 28th!

I do remember lying Snow at end of April 2016.. And I think it was last April rain turned to snow just at the tail end of a cold front after a reasonably warm day before the front came through during the night with dramatic change in temperature.
As for today been dry where I am although dark clouds were near around teatime. I assume that’s the snow everybody else got.

Good 30 mins of hail in Southside of Glasgow. On way back from work, by time I got to East Kilbride it had stopped .

I remember when we used to get warm days in April!

@shuggee risk of frosts continues right through until next weekend (current output) - must be a new all time record approaching for you. (Total number of recorded air frosts - not sure what period you cover? Just Winter and Spring or all seasons combined?)

Me and you got something in common. The desire to start a fight in an empty room.

Moi?! How very dare you? That's a monstrous accusation. This isn't an empty room.

And you haven't a leg to stand on.

Meanwhile, temperature is up to 4.8deg.C after an overnight minimum of -4.8deg.C at 06:36, humidity is 66%, there's no wind to speak of, pressure is 1023.3hPa steady, there's been 1.0mm of precipitation (snow) in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 4/8 allowing a steady stream of bright sunshine to improve the day and the dew point is at -1deg.C so we may see some wintry showers yet.

Fantastic pics in here.
Yesterday at 0600 dipped to -6c which would beat some recent ‘winters’ down here

Snow showers came in during the afternoon with the temp being only 4c at 1700.

Lovely start to the day today, -3.5c and sunny. However it’s clouded over and snow is currently lightly falling with the temp at 5c.

Quite looking forward to the warmer temperatures in 5 or so days time

Bright and frosty here earlier too but since then there have been a couple of hail showers as the clouds have built up. Very large hailstones in the first one.

Great cloudscapes today with snow and graupel showers on and off since Midday. Winds are light so feels pleasant in the sunshine. Currently 4.4c, down from a max of 6.6c.

Light flurry and watching the radar it has been the pulse type of showers but the one near St Andrews looks the heaviest so far don't think I will manage to see it but maybe @Hawesy when it goes to your east

Just a couple of snow showers so far today and the first day this week I think that it hasn't managed to settle, even if just until the sun got to it. Still bitterly cold feeling as I tried to dig over part of the garden, before I retired to the relative warmth of the garage.

Snow still lying on conifers to the south .                    Currently  3c

Field in foreground still brown despite being sown 3 weeks ago. Root development is very good but shoots not breaking soil surface yet.Have actually seen it take 6 weeks for emergence in a cold spring so not too concerned yet. Good root development will help it catch up yet. Early sowing usually helps towards an early harvest hopefully in better weather. We will need every day of our 5 month growing season this year.
