Yesterday was a tad disappointing weather-wise, being overcast although bright enough and not quite as warm as it had been over the previous three days. Rugby-wise, on the other hand, it was a fabulous day with three very watchable games and, most importantly, the right result in each. The right result in as far as the winning side in each game matched the name I had on my betting slip; accumulator no less. Very satisfactory.

Today the sun is back and so is a bit of warmth. Temperature maxed out at 11.3deg.C at 14:34 after a minimum of -1.2deg.C at 05:43, humidity is 77%, wind is 0 to 3mph, pressure is 1029.6hPa falling slowly, there's been no rain in the last 24 hours and cloud cover has averaged 3/8.

Lovely day.

Lots of sunshine and light winds.

Temperature not as high as recently with a high of 10.1c, and feeling chilly out of the sun.

Perfect evening for aurora spotting as it's perfectly clear (and frosty already, now -1.3c).

Pity the max aurora was at dusk

Some nice Cirrus in the afternoon though...

Anyone for a Greenland high?

gfsnh-0-348.png

I think I'd rather not come April.

Been a decent few days here. I wouldn't day warm, or even mild, but it's been dry and the sun has made appearances so even if there has been a chill to any wind it's felt pleasant enough most of the time.  Still not free from the occasional frost first thing in the morning either.

This is why spring can be such a challenging time of year for me. A few nice pleasant days now followed by chill and some wild weather. Desperate for some prolonged brightness.

What with its brief warmth and lighter nights Spring is such a tease!

Forgot to post this picture from Threipmuir on Sunday! Seems the reservoir is super low. @101_North, can you confirm this? Wondering how the water levels compare to past years.

Another overcast day with temperature struggling to hit double figures and the wind picking up decisively after the relative calm of the last few days.

Temperature maxed out at 10.0deg.C around 2pm up from a minimum of 7.0deg.C at 05:36, humidity is 85%, wind 6 to 14mph south-southwesterly with a maximum gust of 21mph at 12:29, pressure is 1013.3hPa steady, the rain started fifteen minutes ago and there's been 2.4mm already under 8/8 cloud cover as it's been all day.

Mostly cloudy here today with a max of 11.5C. Not much different from the last couple of days but felt cooler perhaps due to the breeze and lack of sunshine. Saw this film from the Aberfeldy museum on you tube of a curling match near Aberfeldy in January 1940. The second world war winters were pretty harsh weather wise,

Had a short burst of heavy rain at about 7. Briefly squally but cleared and back to quiet. Looks like almost a repeat tomorrow

A day of cloud and sunny intervals (bar a brief shower at 7pm).

Max of 9.9c and not feeling warm thanks to a gusty moderate to strong SW wind that has lingered all day.

Lovely cloudscapes though in the late afternoon with this interesting double sun effect at teatime...

Cold sunny start to the day at 4c.                Ben More in Sutherland has pristine fresh snow cover this morning.

Sowing  spring barley into ideal ground conditions today.

Been dry here so far today with sunny spells and a fresh Westerly breeze. Max of 10.7C. Had a pleasant walk round the crop research institute. One if those days where it is warm in the sun but cool in the breeze when clouds are about. Just a hint of shower clouds appearing to the NW but bright looking towards NE Fife. Some large flocks of geese around some of which can just about be seen in one photo.

Evening all

Hope you are all well.

Quite an interesting period of weather approaching.

Friday wintry showers risk - settling snowfall down to two hundred meters through the evening in places.

Western Scotland then looks to get the  end of the stick - heavy rain/gales Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday.
Then another round of very wet weather Sunday night through Monday.

It does look on the low side but nothing out of the ordinary. I believe it's level is artificially managed to maintain flow in the Water of Leith via Bavelaw Burn. Same at Harlaw which also has the Balerno Hydro Scheme. That shore is quite often exposed even during wet periods.

GFS off on one again although the forecasts do suggest a bit of wintry muck later tomorrow! Nothing unusual for the time of year but I was just getting into Spring mode.

Wet start to theday at 8c but temperature fell as sky cleared about an hour ago to 6c .   Snow   showers  falling on the hills round about just now.

Interesting to see a holly tree that it has kept its berries  all winter being eaten by some fieldfares this morning . With the predictions of winter returning in a week or so they will need everything they can get.
