It was disgusting to see such disrespect for the very animals that give Gordon  Elliot a very nice standard of living. The majority involved in the industry love these animals that risk their lives da

Thinking of you and your family this coming Wednesday, Tom. Wishing you peace and tranquility over the coming days. Regards BB

I will now post up a detailed, Racing Post National Hunt type analysis, of the Result of the Cheltenham Festival Competition, dedicated to the memory of ANTONYBR7. 1st - BRISTLE BOY - In 5th

Much thanks to B.B.'s very kind words, above, and for Callum's very kind gesture of "hosting" the Cheltenham Festival Competition, and to dedicate it, to Antony's memory.

Below, are the Selections of ANTONYBR7:

Apologies to B.B. but I think Antony must have had a word with the Man upstairs, to influence the result of Yesterday's, North London Derby"!!

It was an exciting game but I think Arsenal deserved the Win, especially on their 1st half performance.

A great piece of skill by Erik Lamela though, for Spurs' goal and nearly a late equaliser by Harry Kane. Think Antony must have pushed that on to the post.

Ironically, that Memorial Plaque to Antony's memory, was erected by a fervent Tottenham fan, who is a friend and former Colleague of Antony, Hayley, Paul and myself, in our Sunderland Bookmaker Days. It is a very generous gesture!!

I will post up the rest of the Selections for the other BR7 and SE12 Entrants, Tomorrow Morning.

    Kind Regards,

    Tom, Colette and Family   👍 🏇 🙏

Paul has had to go into work, at Fitzdare's Credit Office, as I remember well it's all hands on deck where the Cheltenham Festival is concerned. It's going to hit Hayley hard, it's the first time she's been away from Paul, since her Brother passed away. I really feel for her. I'm hoping that one of her friends will take her out for a walk, as she did the other Day, to take her mind off of thigs.

Just waiting to hear back from Callum, regarding my suggestions for his Scoring System.

    Regards,

    Tom.  👍  🏇

Strong sunshine now in BS34; rain was only light this morning. With Cheltenham only 35 miles 'up the road' i wonder if this sun will dry ground out a tad, by time of 1st race?

I hope Callum doesn't think I'm treading on his toes but he's got his Champion's League Competition to run as well, as this one, so I thought I would give him a hand, and post up the Racing Post links to the Declarations for Day 2, of the Cheltenham Festival. Well, i thought the official going for today, given out at lunchtime, looked inaccurate, and after 1st race it seemed more like good to soft, only soft in a few places. Didnt look particularly "soft" to me.

Had a winner in Vintage Clouds, had Honeysuckle in a double with Roksana so that bet floundered. Also had each way pickup at 50s in the 1st with For Pleasure.

I'll add my selections for tomorrow in a mo.

    7th HAYLEYBR7 5 POINTS

    8th @lassie23 3 POINTS

    Morning all,

Hope I find yourselves and your Families, well.

Much thanks to the Entrants above, for their Selections on Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival.

I'm pleased to say that after a slight hitch in my version of the Scoring, probably due to tiredness from not sleeping well after Antony passed away, I had a decent sleep last Night and with a fresh mind, I agree Callum's figures.

I had no concerns that Callum, wouldn't slip seamlessly into the role of "hosting" the Cheltenham Festival Competition.

And so it has proved. Have often told Callum, he would've walked into a job with Sunderland Bookmakers, with his knowledge of Sport and Betting, allied to his youngsters IT capabilities.

We were always on the look out for youngsters to train up, in the role of Trader/Telephonist/Settler.

For a long time, Antony and Hayley were the youngest members of staff we had at Sunderland.

Despite having the hindrance of Yours Truly to train them, they both excelled in their jobs, and became very popular with their Colleagues and Clients, alike.

Antony's career at Sunderland ended in early 2011, after he'd fractured a bone in either leg, in February 2010 and December 2010. His balance was becoming increasingly compromised, by his illness.

He slipped whilst trying to play on a partially frozen Golf Course, at Center Parcs in Suffolk, whilst on holiday with friends, in Feb. 2010. Then slipped and fell on the Ice/Snow, near our home, in Dec. 2010.

When the bone in his left leg had finally mended by Feb. 2011, Sunderland felt that the Office environment was too much of a health hazard for him, and had to reluctantly make him redundant, on health grounds.

Hayley, continued to excel in her role. For the last few years of my career at Sunderland, I sat behind Hayley with the Management Team. Obviously I'm biased but there weren't many females, who were as competent when taking a Bet, as my Daughter. Part of my role at that time, was to hedge Sunderland's liabilities with other Bookmakers, such as Corals, William Hills and Ladbrokes, and Hayley was as efficient and knowledgeable as any of the Females, that worked for those Companies.

My Daughter, grew up in a Sports mad household, so I think it was a case of "if I can't beat them, I'll join them."

So, Hayley left her job at the time, to join myself and Antony with Sunderland, in Croydon.

She soon become a fan of Horse Racing, Football, Darts and even Golf.

Hayley was never fazed when a Client came on to back an exotic sounding Golfer, such as Kiradech Aphibarnrat . She knew exactly who the Golfer from Thailand, was.

In a short while, I will post up some Youtube clips of the other feature Races, on Day 1 of the Festival, and some comments about the Scoring System, for these Horse Racing Competitions.

    Regards,

    Tom. 👍 🏇

I would like to know, from all the Racing Crowd, which form of the Scoring Systems, do you prefer?

The £1 Each Way "Virtual" Stakes or the Points Format. They both have advantages and disadvantages!!

The £1 Each Way Format, gives a truer and more fair reflection, on an Entrant's performance.

    I'm perfectly happy, using either.

When I first started these Horse Racing Competitions at Sunderland, I used the Points Format initially.

But I had to ditch it eventually, as I was continually tinkering with the Points structure and trying to iron out some of the anomalies, that it was throwing up. I then implemented the £1 Each Way level Stakes Format.

This proved more popular, as all my Colleagues knew how to "Settle" (calculate Bets).

But this Format, does have one drawback.

If an Entrant has the luck to find a Winner, such as JEFF KIDDER, Yesterday's 80/1 Winner of the 4.15 Cheltenham, it can quickly turn the Competition, into a "done and dusted" scenario!!

That would've given a "Virtual" Return of £102.

I often wince, when I'm writing down LASSIE23's Selections!! One Day, he's going to cop a huge Return, and end the Competition, for all intent and purposes, there and then.

I hope all the Racing Crowd will read this post, so I can get your views regarding these 2 types of Scoring Systems.

I'd like to put it to a Democratic vote.

Which do you prefer, the Points System or the £1 Each Way level Stakes System?

I plan to return to full Horse Racing Competition mode in April, for the Grand National Festival at Aintree, and would like to have one of the Scoring Systems in place, for that Competition.

I'll now leave you with a few more Youtube clips of some other Races, from Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival.

I'll begin with the smallest Field ever, for the Supreme Novices Hurdle:

No wonder there were hardly any Runners, APPRECIATE IT had frightened all the opposition off!!

Willie Mullins looks to have unearthed, yet another "machine" and Jockey, Paul Townend, was always in control.

Next, another "hotpot" in the form of SHISHKIN, lined up for the Arkle Chase:

Another facile victory for Nicky Henderson's star, who gave Jockey, Nico de Boinville, an Armchair ride.

Finally, the Mare Hurdle. Would another hot Favourite oblige?:

Jack Kennedy managed to galvanise BLACK TEARS to floor another hot Favourite Concertista, and the equally well fancied Roksana, to save the Bookmaker's bacon.

Will 3 more Irish "hotpots", Monkfish, Chacun Pour Soi and Easysland, put the smile back on Punter's faces this Afternoon, and leave Bookmakers crying into their Beer? Not long to wait, to find out.

I will post up the Selections for AVENGERSE12, HAYLEYBR7 and PAULBR7, as soon as I receive them.

This Afternoon, I will post up the Result for each Race, and the value of any Points gained.

And don't forget to give me your views, on those 2 Scoring Systems, please.

    Regards,

    Tom. 👍 🏇
