Piece on BBC NW Tonight about the Sankey's Scenes of Winters Past which comes online tomorrow and which will be of interest to those in Cumbria in particular. Those were winters in the early part of the 20th century when the Lakes got frozen over and skated on regularly. Worth a look I imagine.

Yes noted that, will be taking a look. I suspect the images will be from winter 1916-17 or more likely Feb 1929 - the latter brought widespread ice to the lakes. Our local fish and chip shop used to have plenty of photos on the wall of winter scenes from Feb 1929 and also Feb 1895.
