April bought us only 1.2mm of rain that fell on April 13th.
So since mid March that is the only rain meter recorded rain we have had.

The rain collection unit will be home to spiders as the rain has been lacking,  at least some chance from Monday to beat the April total!

Do check my rain meter daily and maintain them at least once a week to keep them clean and dust free. Never found anything like a spider in them.
They all have the fine mesh covering, which stops anything like that getting into them.
Have been doing that for well over a decade with the rain meter and in long dry spells do a server logging data pause to sense check they are still working.

Mind, we have just had a couple of very light drizzly showers pass over quickly.
Sky has gone very dark grey,
April type showers in May haha!
Temp got to 13.8c at noon, but this rain knocked it back down to 11c.

Would've been the driest month I had recorded if it hadn't have rained Wednesday and yesterday. 18mm total from both of those days.

Just had a shower again, only light. Temp was at 12.9°C. Currently at 9°C.

Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower so far. A much heavier shower just missed to the west of here not long ago which seems to have been the case several times over the last few days. Very disappointing temperatures again today, currently 9.7°C

Hail & heavy rain again.

How do you manage that? We've had SOME rain but nothing more than 20-30mins light rain! BUT, we begin a new month and we begin the rainfall measure so, fingers crossed we will beat last month, currently  1.8 mm..

The webcam does show nicely you being plastered !

1.4mm over a period of 32 days, and in the space of 4 days, 23.2mm. It's a funny ol' world!

Well that earlier rain and a few more drizzly showers during the afternoon has given us 3mm so far.
The garden vegetables will love it

Still looks like more to come today as still seeing some dark grey skies around.

Managed a slightly heavier shower about an hour ago but still not a lot in comparison to what other areas have seen.

Just 1 hail shower at 1145 this morning but nothing since.  Nice convective cloudscapes though

Morning everyone, long time, no speak....

It's been relentlessly frosty around these parts but yesterday surpassed even that. Thought you might be interested to hear it snowed in the Mendips yesterday afternoon, not just a few flakes floating around but proper, laying snow in Priddy. Bonkers.

It has been a cold end of April and snow has fallen on the hills around Wells today (April 30).

Hi Jethro

that’s incredible!!

it was snowing briefly here as well yesterday up towards Orchardleigh which is also quite high but not as high as the Mendips I don’t think it’s probably on the edge of the Cotswolds.

absolutely crazy weather and just to add to that I’m on another walk right now as I’m dictating this message and we’ve just seen a funnel cloud

We have been out all day and I simply couldn’t risk doing washing and putting it out only for one downpour to make it pointless.

End result, a bone dry day!

Some stunning cloudscapes while out and about.

Morning All, some patchy cloud, but the temperatures have dropped to the current overnight low of 0.3°C at: 02:32, whilst creeping up slightly to 1.1°C . A light breeze in from the N, so the temperature may drop before sun up..

We ended up with 4.5mm of drizzly rain yesterday.

A low 3.4c at 4:30am.
Dry cloudy start to the day.
8c

Looks like a quick tie down for some strong winds tomorrow afternoon through till Tuesday morning, Met office has us down for 48-56mph winds from the SW.
Typical, I've recently put up all my bean sticks ready for planting them out in a few weeks. Mind have to redo them.

Morning All (again!), the overnight low did manage to drop sub zero after my earlier post reaching -0.7°C at: 06:12 and currently with partly cloud skies it's 9.8°C.. the very light breeze is still in from the north, so I wonder if a convergence zone might be created again today, we shall see..

The beach looks empty for a May Bank Holiday weekend..

Whilst looking promising, it appears not to have the b#lls to deliver, as it subsides moving over us....Damn looking good to our NE as the cell intensifies just too far east for us to appreciate...

Interesting day, the air quality graph has been ALL over the place today with the changes in airflow, as shown below:
