My little town has been without power for most of the day. Apparently a transmitter was brought down in Corsham and ended up causing disruption from there to some parts of Swindon, possibly as far as Reading.  I actually ended up following huge generators on my way home from work from Lyneham and have since heard they’ve been dotted all around the north side of town to supply power.
Can confirm it all sounds rather windy again whilst lying in bed

Very wild night and dawn period! Living down the end of a culdesac means everyone else’s rubbish is on our garden! Meanwhile I had weighted down our bin/box and they are intact! Yes it would be recycling day wouldn’t it!!

Nowhere near the wind gusts that were forecast here. Met Office and others had us down for 42-53mph gust through the night.

Wind picked up around 10pm yesterday.
From then till about 7am, WSW wind was 15-22mph with plenty of 25-32mph gusts and a few gusts hitting 36mph.

5.4mm of rain yesterday and 0.8mm so far today.
Now, a little cloudy but sun starting to blaze through with patches of blue sky.
Wind has dropped to 12-15mph with 18-22mph gusts.
10.7c, 996.4 hPa

Me too, recorded a 40mph gust earlier, the only thing that's good for is trashing your fences, damaging property, bringing down trees or blowing over bins and scattering litter all over the place.

Would be more than happy to see high pressure settle over us bringing warm dry weather from now until September.

Same here lol! Gales always manage to find bins out night.

What a wild night! Garden furniture has rearranged itself on the patio and one of the heavier dining chairs was lying on its side.

Calmer this morning with plenty of showers rattling through.

Just a heads up but If you have any dense shrubs or plants etc in your garden it might be worth checking underneath for any sleeping hedgehogs, with some fence panels coming down they would have had access  & they'll be trapped & unable to get back out of you garden when you replace your fencing. 

Wish everyone thought about those little creatures though as they're so precious & created access for them into their gardens by cutting a  hedgehog hole as we call it in their fencing , that would go a long way to reversing their decline & preventing their extinction as our gardens are there last haven due to habitat loss but sadly most gardens they can't even get into.

Got that covered. Our resident Hedgehogs come through a gap under our front gate and we've now created a gap in the fence to next door on the other side.

They have and will continue to have full access rights.
