The showers seem to have faded with just one stream to the west of Dorchester, but now we have a real mix on the cloudscape as the wind has fallen away and the temperature is climbing (albeit slowly) 14.6°C

8.6mm of rain early this morning. Currently 17.4°C and sunny spells.

I'm waiting on that last line of showers to move through.. I have new disc brakes to put on my mtb!

Interesting. How effective are they in really wet conditions?

Warmed nicely to 16.3°C at: 13:24, now backing off slightly. Been out in the garden just looking to see what I need to tie down for the next 5 days or so..could be a blast tomorrow, and again Monday/Tuesday, BUT lets see...

Water doesn't really affect them, particularly if you use the metal brake pads. I'm using resin pads, which is better for my style of riding, but they're still better than your typical brake blocks found on older bikes.

Here we go again..

Does that really warrant a wind warning for goodness sake?!

We had several days this past week with winds higher than that - there were no warnings for that

It's getting beyond a joke now.

Edit: Latest update has further downgraded winds. 16mph, gusting to 31.

Autumn weather season has arrived...

A rainy morning yesterday on and off starting the month with 12.5mm of rain.
Afternoon turned out quite pleasant with many sunny spells and a high of 18c mid afternoon.
A dry and calm start so far today.
Wind so far this morning has been SSW 8-10mph. Has just moved to a more Southerly direction and starting to pick up.
First overnight low below 10c last night since May. Was 9c at 1:00am.
Now 14.6c

Looking at the forecasts, breezy winds, but not sure as mentioned above they warrant a yellow warning.

September rain total was 42.9mm
August = 105.3mm
July = 109.1mm
June = 88.4mm
Yearly total so far = 620.1mm

Morning All, that's more like it, a seasonal start to the day after an ovrnight low under clear skies of 4.7°C at: 00:44, currently 12.2°C with RH94% and a reasonable breeze in from the south kicking up some surf as the beachcam shows this morning.7mm of rainfall so far today, but I'm sure we will keep counting through the day..

So Knocker, what do you reckon the chances are of the developing low off Lands End going solo and splitting from the parent way to the north?

Not knocker but I expect it to become the main  centre during later today and into Sunday, the chart knocker showed indicates it is deepening quite well. A probable track would take it just into the N Sea off NE England before tending to re-curve west a touch as it heads towards the Northern Isles.

Just my view, and pardon for entering the SW thread. The main thread is full of posts about what may happen several days ahead!

I was just about to more or less say the same as John. Under the umbrella of the upper trough into the North Sea this evening and then curving north of Scotland

Absolute filth out there today.

Another torrential burst heading in now.

Just swept the chimney and cleaned out the burner. Nothing else to do.

Up to 42mm of rain.

Co-op flooded, again.. I don't know why they can't fix that problem, its been happening for years. Quite a few places with floods from what I hear.

No wind though..

Lovin' it some decent rain at last, I love it, it's just another piece of the UK weather, and I love it...

Anyway apart from the Love !

Currently 13.8°C RH 94%

Rainfall since midnight 38.8 mm

The wind has fallen away, and has not really been much to worry about to be honest today after peaking earlier with gusts of 26.5mph..

Although choppy seas remain..
