It’s barely rained here but my goodness looking at the radar it must be horrendous around Westbury-Frome!

Ah bright lightning as I type! Eerie pink sky too as the sun is setting behind the stormy sky.

Yes I’m hearing that it’s absolutely chucking it down in Westbury right now and has been for quite some time. Looking at the radar, there was a cell between Westbury and Warminster that then merged with one to the east of Westbury.

I have a feeling there maybe some localised flooding issues in the area. It’s just sitting there and not moving anywhere.

Hi Fromey

just seen your pictures that’s absolutely incredible. Fantastic catch.

Normally when I do a timelapse it is really slow ,if you look at the other ones I’ve done of growing clouds before but this was ridiculous it came over so quickly. then when we looked up we could see the funnel above us.
but because we were near enough right under it it look like it was going diagonally

fantastic pictures Andy and Fromey

I couldn’t believe the speed that it was moving straight over the top of us

when I was taking photos earlier I think I mentioned in one of my posts that I’m sure I could see rotation

and that continued on its path directly over us here

so glad you caught it on camera.

once again great pics guys

I nearly caught a massive bolt of lightning on film earlier I was absolutely gutted I had my camera rolling for 40 minutes and I was also doing long exposures with my other camera and then I stopped just so I could delete the footage as it fills up my device quickly as it’s quite high res

as I stop recording a lovely bolt of pink lightning came straight down and hit towards Heaven’s Gate I reckon

I instantly started recording again and caught the thunder

what an immense amount of rain we have had and I think probably even more over Westbury. Andy / Fromey I know you both have raingauges just wondered how much you’ve both recorded as I don’t have one.

Thank you

was just about to post thunderstorms coming in again just heard a big rumble

@offerman amazing evening had me a little scared as it was coming straight for my house but thankfully it veered to the right and it look as some wind sheer pulled it apart.

so far my rain gauge has recorded 44.7mm in old money 1.7inches i think.

my weather station is on weather under ground, station name is Ifrome5

That’s crazy ? Must be a line from westbury to here just skimming you there. I thought you were joking initially about amounts, but just goes to show our microclimate in full swing.  Some nice pink lightning about here too.

You too Fromey, makes sense when you said it was coming directly from your house as I live just around the corner from you . Certainly an evening for our triangle to remember ,  thought I was going to bed early tonight after only 40 minutes sleep for the whole of last night

Another bust here, can see flashes from the storm to the south east but that won't be heading this way.

Can see green and pink flashing sky to my NE (but almost nothing on the radar) and constant rumbles.

Edit: lol - scratch that - it's a fireworks display

A quiet morning here. No wind to speak of, but complete cloud cover with no breaks as yet. Still feeling humid outside.
