30C here in Taunton , looking at the netweather radar it seems to be picking up rain near Exeter way , I thought though that storms and rain etc were strictly for the SE .

Or has the radar had a bit too much heat and and malfunctioning? Lol .

Sat image only showers a mere finger of cloud with little apparent depth..

OR

Holiday maker beach umbrellas on this shot

I know right! I was forced to outdoor it due to covid when I sent the invites out a few weeks back. Gah! Fingers crossed we all get away with it!

I see Met office app has moved any potential storm risk to Monday in Poole. Very disappointing! Was hoping to get some good chances for an evening show. Not looking likely now then?

So annoying that areas enduring the highest temps are missing out on the storms!

Yup and the Amber warning over us is for something we already know about that it’s hot!

I’d like to think we’d be in with a shout come the end of the week into the weekend but I’m not confident. Think it will be just heavy rain for our region.

Sunny all day again but only reached 24.8°C here as the sea breeze picked up earlier than the last few days and was a bit stronger. Currently 20.2°C

Amusingly I haven’t recorded 30c yet!

Maxima the last 3 days have been 29.8c, 29.3c and 29.8c! The minima have been gradually increasing, last nights was 16.9c .

We would have reached 30c had there been a SE component to the gentle breeze bringing a foehn effect off Salisbury Plain.

That is quite surprising!

I've been watching my data closely this past few days. Any hint of "East" in the flow here, and the temp shoots up quickly, even if it's Northeast. Didn't get it today, as the wind stayed in the SW quadrant, but still made 30.6°C.

Tomorrow may surpass that, IF I get lucky. The wind looks to be from the North - Northeast during the morning, until around 1pm. If it can hold on until around 2pm, it may well get to 31°C, before the sea breeze overrides it.

All in all, not a bad run here..

The local rag is on a roll...

HEAVY rain, thunder and hail is being forecast for the weekend in Dorset.

The Met Office has warned of potential flooding and transport disruption, with 100mm of rainfall predicted in some areas of the county.

It comes after the county has basked in a heatwave, with temperatures soaring into the high 20s, which is expected to continue until Friday evening.

A yellow weather warning has been put in place from 00.01am on Saturday until 11.59pm on Sunday.☂️

31.5c but humidity lower at a 45%. Feels cooler to me today. Sun long gone behind cloud. But I still see blue sky and more importantly it's nice and hot so what do I care?!

Seems to be some rain (not much) approaching SW Ireland and Cornwall currently, perhaps 50-100 miles offshore ... Is that in the forecast? Maybe it's expected that the high pressure will fend it off?
