Snowflakes now the size of rice krispies. Can they make it to the size cornflakes?

Heaviest snow of this cold spell now in Pucklechurch and starting to pitch.

Looking at the Met Office ‘future radar” it has definitely pepped thing up.

Almost a hook developing......? Could be a bit of circulation in there.

The blackcaps and goldfinches are in a frenzy on the feeders. They surely know what is to come! It is a sign!

I can confirm, we have reached the dizzying heights of cornflake sized flakes now. Just looked at the radar, looks like it won't last long.

Can you tell that I'm hungry.....just baked crystalized ginger cookies, wait for them to cool? Fat chance.

Cadbury update. Eaten and really nice and fattening.

Also can confirm actual white stuff falling from the sky!

I’m not happy until they’re Weetabix sized!

Ditto.

Just looked in the Ireland thread.....big mistake! Just think what could have been if it hadn't gone north. Harrumph.

I know! This winter we’ve been too far south, then too far west and now too far east grrr! Now we just need a final cold spell when we’re too far north lol.

Although there's next to nothing falling from the skies I have to say the mighty Icon nailed the timing and distribution of the Not-Snow.

I was thinking this as I was reading through the thread! It's exactly what they said would happen

We just had another bit of flurrying light snow, which turned progressively sleetier, and then had ice pellets mixed in along with the sun coming through for good measure...

So I guess as well as marginal conditions at the surface (temp/dew 2.9C/0.3C), some was melting aloft and freezing into ice-pellets on the way down (850hpa temps are actually just above 0C here at 3pm on the GFS chart).

Some nice moderate snow fell about 15 mins ago! Heaviest of the whole cold spell

Looks to be some more coming this way, don't know if it will settle but it's nice to see it falling.

Edit: Met Office graphics have it stalling and fizzling over Avon area
