Radar indictive of quite a bit of light, wintry PPN around the region;

However, as we are all finding out, very little of the above is reaching the ground.

As others have said, the frontal wave is further east/north east compared to what modelling predict for this time of day.  This will also mean the colder air mass will get mixed out sooner than predicted too.

I expect more of the PPN to reach the ground through the afternoon, as dew points and humidity both rise, and the air becomes denser.  Whether this will still be wintry at this point, I don't know though.  We may get the PPN now, but it could be more rain/sleet than originally forecast.

This winter summed up in one pic. Been literally sat a few miles west of me and not budging. Although from reports it doesn’t seem like much of anything is falling even under it.

Believe it or not but I can confirm that snow is falling. Now it's not a while out and it's not enough to stick lol but small white flakes are falling,maybe slightly larger than the dandruff stuff a while back

This is painful..

Even more painful is popping into the Ireland regional thread, as i just did  and some places there have had decent snowfall this morn. Take a look at some of the pics in there.

that's it for this cold spell i think!- not quite sure why there is a warning out!

They put a warning out because its so rare that they fear panic buying and fear if it snows now.

Last minute upgrade. I think I’ve counted at least ten flakes!

It’s not snowing here yet radar indicative that it is .
funny isn’t it that we have cold dry air so does Germany and yet some people I know over there got snow and a lot of it

Looking at the radar, I would normally be expecting to see some light - moderate snow falling within next hour or so, as the slightly heavier (but still not really heavy) PPN currently over Somerset heads in.

Judging by reports from people in Somerset though, not much is actually hitting the ground.  So I expect much the same here.

The temperature should stay below 0°C through the layers of the atmosphere so its unlikely.
