You have to laugh when Western Ireland gets more snow than us in Easterly sourced freezing cold air.

Yeah I think you can sum this cold snap up by saying we’ve been too far West then too far East. Maybe later this month has something in store for us.

I wouldn’t mind a Feb 2019 redux right now

I will be glad to just get into the garden work again without freezing myself.

Anyone in Plymouth on here? Radar says it's snowing there.

Been working in Plymouth all day and even though the radar says its been snowing it hasn't made it to the ground. PPN to light. Anyway big story down here is there is a spate of fires on the moors

I enjoy quite a wide range of weather types so even though I'd be happy to see some more of the white stuff well into spring I'd also be quite happy with a Feb 2019 redux.  That spell particularly in the last third of the month was quite special.  I think the upcoming milder spell will be somewhat wetter and cloudier than that though!

That precipitation isn't reaching Exeter, stuck down towards Plymouth, I'm not 100% confident that it would actually be snow as Exeter is being warmed by the English Channel now, a piercing wind but it's raised the temperature to 3C at the airport.

Yep, radar returns not reflective of situation here in Kingsbridge. Not a flake or drop of rain!

Current radar showing 'moderate' snowfall over Plymouth...i can confirm there's an odd flake here or there.........naughty radar...pure clickbait...

Lightly snowing here just outside tavi and reports of heavier stuff mary tavy way.

Very very concerned about the fire as my horses are near the area. My yard owner said there's quite a bit of smoke which isn't good news regarding the direction it's traveling and apparently its spreading fast! Have got horsebox on standby and phone close to me in case I need to move them. Crossing everything they manage to control it!

The radar is probably accurate. I would expect the combination of dry air and SE wind is evaporating precipitation before it reaches the ground.

Something I expect to happen quite a lot in the next 48 hours.

So I was wondering why on earth there was a moorland fire in the middle of winter having associated them with high temperatures and drought.  I was wondering if 'freeze drying' might be the issue, have the low temperatures removed all the moisture from the foliage making the area flammable despite the low temperatures?
