Latest METO warnings really do paint a bleak picture for areas away from Devon/Cornwall with regards to snow before mild returns.

But the latest Meto forecast for Saturday is a definite BANK from me;

I've often cursed my luck over the last 50 or so years in these situations. Either too far East or too far West depending which way the show is coming from

Coldest night of the winter last night, down to -5.1C. Still not as cold as it got in winters 15-16, 16-17 and 18-19 though which were all milder overall.

What a disappointment this cold spell will have been if there’s no snowfall before the mild dullness returns.

A low of -3.1°C here. Nowhere near the lowest of the year. Currently 1.4°C and windy.

A quick comparison of my stats recorded this week, show that this cold spell hasn't been 50% of the one back in 2018.

No ice days. Only 4 frosts. The lowest temp and dewpoint this year were recorded back in January.

Rather poor considering the synoptics.

Yes, the wind is something that will very much exasperate the cold feel over the next couple of days.

This is what it COULD feel like on Saturday afternoon, when taking into account the wind chill;

Some snowless, very cold feeling days to come.

Popped to the shop at lunchtime - chilly in the wind for sure, but in a bit of shelter from it, it felt more like spring than winter.

Looks like we have one last snizzle/flurry day on Saturday before normality resumes;

Well last night was another let down, my grass and air minima both occurred at or before midnight, with -9.2 grass at 22:20 and -3.4 air at midnight,  so just failed to match the 2018 beast on the grass, by a tenth. Cloud associated with those offshore and Isle of Wight snow showers and residual cloud from ex-SE snow showers spoiled it here, neither one thing nor the other really.

Looks like a maximum +1.3°C at 13:20 today so no midnight-midnight ice day this year for me as Monday's +0.2 max  dropped below freezing point at 1 am (then stayed there all day GRRR) and Tuesday got to  +0.5. Given the rest of the week's forecast, it will have been a bitterly cold week but still a massive let-down here.

Really wish that wind would bugger off, cold I don't mind but with added windchill, it's bone chillingly freezing out there!

I'm actually looking forward to a slight warm up, there that's done it, probably see a major flip in the 12z models now

Anyone in the far south of Devon might see some snow very soon?️

Maybe a dusting on Saturday for where I live too.

Anything would be better than what we've had so far really!

Cloudy, high wind chill and temperature currently -0.8c, ground and bits of snow frozen hard.

Maybe some white stuff on Saturday before a warm up but if it's mostly dry that will do for me as at least the floods can dry up!
