Good Morning all,

Its great to see people have woken up to a dusting this morning

Slightly overcast with an odd flake in the wind here, nothing to really write home about.

Very powdery snow, not even good for a snowball.

Rather an odd occurrence too with snow in the air despite crystal clear skies, I think it may be blowing off the hills.

Strange ice formation on my bird bath this morning.

Good morning all,

The dusting we had seems all but disappeared aside from some shaded patches.

Sun is shining and already above 0C so no ice day, already

Don't think we’re expecting as much shower activity today are we?

Won’t be an ice day today as we’re not far from going above zero. Sunny too. Colder last night though.

06Z ICON still remains consistent in bringing a band of snow across many parts of the region through Saturday;.

The mod thread summed up in 1 picture

FWIW the way the models are going JimBob looks to be closer to the mark! Will be interesting over the next few days if the Met keep the same extended outlook.

Once you get to mid February, especially in this part of the country, you start to feel the sun's strength/warmth on your skin a bit more and it's very easy to start to look towards the warmer, Spring days ahead (and all the convective weather that brings).

Personally, (and I expect I'm not alone here), I would be quite content with some warmer, sunnier days ahead.  Just don't want lots of rain!  Obviously, if a March 2018 popped up again, I wouldn't say no either.

That's the beauty of the time of year we are heading into.  You can flip from Winter to Spring (and vice versa) within days.

Just this from Ian on twitter;

Nice to see the Meto do take into consideration the mighty ICON.  Not a total waste of time at least then.

Oh, the mighty ICON.

Certainly looks as though many respected forecasters are leaning towards milder temperatures next week. If it happens I just hope it's dry and we don't get a return to constant cloud and rain...ugh...

I'm still not convinced..... Yet....

Cornwall meanwhile

Cornwall and parts of Devon remain in with a chance of seeing some snow overnight Thursday night.  Nothing overly heavy, but something nonetheless;

The above is pretty consistent throughout most modelling currently.

Indeed the very last thing we need is more rain at the moment...

Personally I like the weather dry and sunny, even if it’s cold, rather than wet and windy. I’ve never liked snow because it makes getting anywhere difficult.

Those on the Model thread wishing for apocalyptic cold and snow should perhaps bear in mind that weather conditions have closed Covid vaccination clinics. Personally I have a 250 mile round trip to a family funeral next week and really don’t want to be battling snow on the A303

I'm sorry for your/your families loss.

FWIW, you are extremely, extremely unlikely to be battling any snow on the A303 next week.

Roll on Spring

GFS 6z has us back in the cold by end of next week after a brief drier milder blip, we will see though.

Appears to be a problem with the traffic camera spoiling the view A303 solstice park looking East this morning.
