That last picture looks lethal.. Can't somebody at least throw some grit down on that pavement?

I don't know where there is any or I would have done it already. People who live on the hill up to here, cleared one side with shovels, it was just like mine, but impossible to walk down. Unfortunately, I don't have a shovel, or the strength to do that either.

Snow has got heavier here in Shirley, Croydon ❄❄❄

Same here, roads and pavements white again. Pretty heavy now. Will add to the earlier fall.

Still not much in Bromley, I like the look of that potential streamer even if it’s too far north for me right now. Gives some hope that things can happen..

QE2SS

Quite the streamer setting up its source somewhere in the Thames near the QE2 bridge

All very strange this cold spell wondering though is there any converging winds in that part of SW Essex and NW Kent kicking this off

What's left after today's sunny skies.

I can not walk down that, using next doors stairs.

IMG_20210209_173130.thumb.jpg.8da710a2adc998761564e1c18c1ddb81.jpgIMG_20210209_173230.thumb.jpg.1d2ef822feb7d3e9ecf851e14264e215.jpg

and that road and pavement are dangerous. Cars still driving on it though.

It's very similar here. Sheet ice. It's the worst part of winter. A rapid thaw under sunny skies to dry everything out or heavy snow to cover the ice completely is needed. But this cold spell has days to come yet so I understand.

Looks like I'm breaking out the ice spike things for my boots to reduce the risk of slips and falls. Ironically "I'm still standing" by Elton John, albeit a metal version was on my playlist on the dog walk earlier....

Be careful out there alexis

Looks like the cold, dry winds are drying up the surfaces in C London tonight and the snowflakes are lingering on the ground here.. could the ground temps finally be suitable for settling?

Maybe too little, too late! ❄️

Looks like in terms of snow we are done here in Locksbottom. We peaked at 8cms here earlier this morning but probably lost 1cm during the early afternoon even though we didn’t get above -0.1.The next interesting thing to see for me is how cold somewhere gets in next 2-3 nights.I reckon there could be a -12 somewhere either tomorrow or Thursday night. Here I reckon we could get a -6 which would comfortably beat our coldest night of winter by nearly 3 degrees.

Longer term it seems we are needing a miracle as all major models are looking for it to turn milder probably by Monday, which is a bit contradictory to latest met office update which gives an indication of milder weather mainly for SW UK.We shall see but fascinating how it will pan out.Personally not ready for Spring and would love another cold 5/6 day spell which would give more widespread snow to not just SE but whole of the UK.Still time but clock is ticking.

stay safe

Quite a difference in the description of tonight’s forecast , I’ve cherry picked some charts but the Beeb do have some support from the euro 4

Yeah it would be handy to have a grit bucket nearby - I don't think we have any round my area either but I'm sure there used to be in the past.. Maybe the councils don't think it's a necessity anymore.

We do have one directly outside where I work and the council has been using it to grit the paths surrounding the school.

So are there signs of a Thames streamer overnight or is this going down as the one of the worst easterly events for SW London in history?

Agreed it’s been awful for us. So close yet so far!
