Lovely start to today, looking and feeling more like summer. Lots of blue sky and temp already up to 19.5C at 10am. Early satellite shows patchy cloud but plenty of clear breaks to enjoy. Let's hope infill doesn't completely spoil the situation later.

GEM has got a Spanish Plume on the cards right towards the end of its Model, so I'm hoping for some luck with the Atlantic as it moves through Europe next week.

Oops, showers can build today, you got very unlucky on timing. Nothing like yesterday though.

Quite a lot of grey cloud around here now, wind is lovely cooling everything down (not to everyones liking of course).

Been busy on the farm today, BB . . . Best day for ages!

A lot of cloud today and there was quite a heavy drizzly shower mid afternoon. Sunnier now.

Looking at the models, despite a north to north east wind there doesn’t appear to be too much cloud modelled to move off the North Sea. So it is likely to be quite sunny and it will be pleasantly warm with temperatures into the low twenties away from the Norfolk coast.

Next two days

Not a blockbuster, but welcome dry and fine weather.

Yesterday's event exemplified the often very localised nature of severe weather.

The "strip" affected by the worst of the rain and storms was quite narrow but extended north to south right across west London (including north west and south west).

Draw a line on a map linking places like Raynes Park, Kew, Gunnersbury and Chiswick and you'll see what a small area was involved.

Nothing in east London of any significance this time - as I saw the other day, I was a mile and a half from a tornado yet saw nothing, heard nothing and not even a drop of rain.

Grey skies and cooling breeze again this morning, still I prefer this to what is likely coming our way in the next couple of weeks, allegedly heat is on its way.

Morning all,

Seems the UK will be enjoying a bit of summer at last - apart from the east.

Still, I suppose I should be grateful for the bit of sunshine yesterday. Roll on 2022. it might be an improvement.....

More grey sky, is this the undercut we were warned about? Another week or more of waiting for some decent sun if this HP sits in the wrong place throughout this expected settled spell.

Its been a fantastic season so far for many areas, decent sun big convection etc. But for some reason there are patches that have managed nothing but grey sky since mid June.

Still I'm not giving in yet something just has to give!

Have a nice afternoon especially if you are enjoying some welcome sun and warmth.

We have kind of moved past it here in this thread but I made a youtube video about the flooding in London on Monday, if anyone was interested in seeing some footage!

It was especially crazy for me because I live on a bit of a hill and to see it flood was crazy! Locals said that the last time anything like that happened was the 1970s!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
