GFS still keeps throwing out interesting charts for the turn of the month. Nothing to get overly excited about yet as there isn't huge support, but definitely something to keep an eye on once more. Charts from this mornings 06z run.

Looks west based again, in which case we keep the cold and wet stuff going.

Very sad scenes here, Jackie Weaver the snowlady has pretty much gone. She didn’t sadly have the right authorities! Here is a picture of her in her better days, being covid secure too!

Great spell here - 3rd best I’ve seen. 2010 top, 2018 second this 3rd! Now let’s have some spring warmth!

Wow - third best - just goes to show even in our region, some folk (a small minority) did well.  Here in SW London, it probably wont make the top 50!

For a winter that had some fantastic meteorological phenomena (3 warmings in the Strat, a very negative AO etc.), the outcome on the ground for most of the south of the country was desperately disappointing.

Feb 2021 - a month that promised so much but delivered so little!

Well since I've lived in Dover, moved here in 2013, but after the snowy weather, in the summer. It's been the best snow event here I've seen, had snow in the garden till Monday morning from Sunday week before. Who can ask for more. But the best snow event I've seen for totals was in 2009 when I lived in Croydon. Knee high on an adult and not even a drift. Phantastic.

It's too warm this evening, feels weird after that cold spell. Still was always going to warm up, but did it have to bring rain lol.

Clear skies again tonight, and not cold too. Feels like a cool May/June night out there.

Very mild again this morning at 9.1c some heavy rain to move through this morning clearing later to sunny spells..

Looks fairly wet the rest of the week with various bands of rain moving through..

River levels have managed to get right down and ground water has gone down here quite a bit. I don't think we will see the flooding we did in Jan/start of Feb but does need closely watching depending on how much rain we get over the next few weeks

Pineapple tomatoes and cucumber melons? Must admit never heard of them. Any more info? Easy to grow etc from seeds?

Off work now for a day or two as this mild wet weather is perfect for outdoor working and getting soil ready for planting. Soil is ideal condition for working though slightly cold. Not too wet. Flooding was never going to be an issue in SE as I said some weeks back.

Temp 9.6 with rain incoming from SW. Balmy weekend ahead.

Not the case for all of the south east, the allotments in Riseley North Beds certainly aren’t ripe for planting yet..!

North Beds? It's Raised Beds that's needed there!

good morning to all the lovely friendly folk on here, bit of drizzle but also sun going on at the moment, gardening question answer is the toms and cues were grown from seed the toms looked like chinese lanterns when growing as they were encased in a papery white covering they are the size of marbles, the cues looked like lemons my husband had them in a pop up greenhouse but as we are gardening amateurs allowed them to get over tall [the plant] also grew tiny black peppers but they were too hot taste wise, hope this helpsnot sure if the toms or peppers were named aunt mollys we grew them here in suffolk.

That is some serious drainage problems there! Someone needs to raise those beds!!! Gravel down then top soil/ compost.. Alternatively we have dug trenches here in the chicken runs to remove the water as it was getting so water logged and worked really well..

Its the dam clay round here that is the issue then you go down about 1ft and it turns to gravel/clay that sticks like S to everything!

I don't think pineapples will grow here big enough in our summers to eat surely? They must have to be started and moved indoors.. I thought it also took over a year for them to mature into fruit?

Any thoughts for this weekend in South London?
Looking at the MO/BBC/NW all seem to agree that Saturday is likely to be breezy now, and potentially a bit damp/wet at times to what was forecasted a few days ago. BBC seem to be going for the milder option.

Sunday looks to drier, but both MO/NW seem to have it at around 12c around here with keen breeze still, where as the BBC seem to be out on their own opting for 16c. Is this a case of the BBC doing their usual optimistic forecasting on temps, only likely to downgrade them nearer the time?

Sunday probably going to depend on the cloud cover levels. The ECM always has been more keen on there being more widespread sunny outbreaks whilst the other models are much more conservative, at least for our neck of the woods with the ECM being far more west with any front than pretty much all the other models.

16c is do able IF the ECM is right with the frontal position, but given its very much on its own right now, it does make its solution very questionable.

ECM has been trending more and more unremarkable still on warmer wide compared to GFS and UKMO. Give me frosts and more seasonal temperatures any day. All this cloud cover and dampness is horrible.
