Heavy rain for the past hour here and plenty of thunder & lightning. Lovely!

Hearing some really loud and long lasting rumbles of thunder too. 5-10s

I'm just to the north in Edmonton, can hear frequent thunder and had one lightning strike above us, but I think it's just missing us here

Some rumbles/strikes from something that tried to pop a couple of miles west of here. Now died off but some still some dark clouds and thermals rising as I can count 8-10 buzzards circling up on the edge of the cloud.

No sure if it's wishful thinking on my part, but I swear I can hear distant (and I mean distant!) rumbles here?

Afternoon all

Very heavy storm passed through East Ham 10-15 minutes ago.

Heard thunder and saw one lightning flash.

Intense rain - what was most unusual was this came from the NE, not from the south or west as you would expect. It's the first time I can recall a thunderstorm travelling NE-SW - we can get rain from that but not a storm. Very unusual and, as I say, very intense rainfall for a short period.

Rain keeps getting heavier and flashes of lightning almost overhead, eeek. Hope no flooding issues!

A cool North Sea feed has put pay to any action here. As you say a SW or NW flow with a longer land track is generally much better here. The additional heat effect of Central London seems to be the sweet spot today.

Now sporting a lovely storm headache but no storm. Probability dropped from 52 and 57% to in the 20s. Humidity in the 90’s. Hearing very distant rumbles, a bit like heavy traffic.

Norfolk Sheep move a bit further south down here to Ipswich. Lovely Sunday afternoon here blue skys & hot. Saw the yellow warnings for rain & thunderstorms a few days ago and actually arranged a BBQ for today knowing it would never happen.

No rain in Chelmsford yet. T-storms forecast from 2pm. Now 4pm. Radar shows t-storms moving this way then they fizzle out before reaching us. For the last two hours there have been very dark skies to the west of us but sunny spells overhead. 22.5C so a pleasant summers day.

My mate's dog has just done a thunder alert, which must be from Attleborough, a good 15 miles SW. Strikealert hasn't picked up anything .

Got a good deluge earlier with more sharp showers to follow under some dark reds on the radar. Thunder for around 20-30 minutes too. Lighter skies now with a bit of an orange tinge and drizzle. Wondering if that stuff to the NE can make it down here to the SW of London. Feels very warm and humid.

Edit: rain heavier now with thunder rumbling around.

It's just where the convergence zone has set up - if you are on that line then boom!

The heavy showers did indeed break out down the wind convergence line forecast by Arpege this morning.

Heres the best of them, which didn't attach properly and no matter what I do won't seem to attach to the main post.
