The 13.00 readings show nearly at 30C in many places in and around Greater London. Heathrow at 29.9C so looking as if it will breach 30C easily before the afternoon is out.

Hot and sunny in Surbiton, my nearest PWS shows 31 with a dew point of 19 so pretty muggy too. A bit of cloud bubbling up but not amounting to much as yet.

Well by my unscientific thermometer it is 29 degrees in the garden. May reach 30. Makes the cold old mout cider even more refreshing....

Just about scraped 30C here now, just a little bit of fair weather cloud around and a very light north westerly breeze.

Peaked at 30.4 here in locksbottom but dropped down to 29.2 now.wouldn’t mind a quick thunderstorm this evening if that could be arranged to save me watering the garden

29c was on my phone at Margate surely it was higher than 31c today? As Met have announced. My car consistently read 34-35c between Gravesend east and Dartford this afternoon felt atleast 32/33c normally my cars only ever wrong by 1c to 2c max. #BringBackGravesendBroadnessOfficialRecordingStation

I had a feast.

Absolutely top tier ice cream there, Good choice. Maxibon is my ice cream of choice if avaliable, if not a feast or a magnum.

Took an iced water bottle out with me for a walk this morning. Was a black of ice when I started and was warm water half an hour later!

Evening all,

From a very warm and uncomfortable, S,E. London.

On the subject of refreshing treats, to cool you down.

My Wife has just produced this meal, for our Sunday tea:

20210718_191220.thumb.jpg.fd06f82f96a0b9980996af9f423bdba1.jpg

A breast of chicken, with a Nando's style marinade. This was accompanied by her homemade Potato Salad.

Charlotte Potatoes, smothered in Greek Yoghurt, Light Mayonnaise, a hint of Mustard, with red Onion, Mint and mixed Herbs.

This was finished off with a Mint Choc Cornetto but just one of course!!

All very delicious and extremely cooling.

Another impossible night for sleeping to come, despite having our Bedroom fans on full blast!!

Regards,

Tom.

Chatting with a friend in Medway today and they registered 32oC. And from my time in Medway it was always a degree or two cooler than the corridor from Gravesend to Dartford. I used to drive the A2 everyday and the heat would always peak there by a few degrees - so I wouldn’t be surprised. It’s such a shame they don’t have the station there anymore as they’re missing out on a a large area that is arguable one of the hottest in the country.
