That looks great, fingers crossed:) Big drops of rain started slowly on our evening walk, now quite persistent under milky grey skies with the smell of petrichor around us. Very humid still, all the windows are open to let in the slight breeze. No cats to be seen when we were out so they must think something's up;)

I want to open the windows but we have a kitten that's determined to get out so I had to shut them again . We are opening up different rooms at a time to allow some flow through the house .

Steady moderate rain in the Surrey Hills.  Nothing convective.  Wonderful evocative smell that comes from rain on hot ground after a warm and dry spell.

Petrichor.

The storms seem to be restricted to the eastern edge of the rainband so mainly an east anglia and East Sussex/Kent risk

My take on this a few hours ago.
London West expect rain of course but nothing out of the ordinary.

Those further east may get to hear a rumble or 5 and see a flash if they don’t blink.

Just started raining in Ashford. Lights keep flickering for some reason. More likely a fault than some impending storm so no doubt I’ll be left without any power soon.

There’s a nice storm in bexhill right now

I've been looking at the Eastbourne webcam - not exactly lighting up the skies, is it?

It was in Bexhill. Almost all the lightening has been pink or orange. Not massively frequent but impressive

Dungeness after Hastings then Folkestone and Dover. Can't see it missing them.

Another East Sussex/Kent event. What do we have to do to get a decent thunderstorm in south west London? I think I’d have to go back to the amazing storms of May 2018 for the last decent nighttime storm.

Beautiful day earlier, max of 28C at 16:36  began getting cloudy and uncomfortably humid from around 7pm.  Currently 24C with 72% humidity, although feels hotter and more humid.  House is unbearable. Have been fastening new plants to canes in the hope they will survive any torrential rain.  Sky increasingly dark and stormy on quick dog walk.  Wind from south at 1mph. Average over 10 mins 0.5mph.  Pressure 1009.3 steady.  Raining steadily for last 15 minutes although weather station not recording that - wonder if something's wrong with it...
