Trees around here were certainly weakened by the lack of rainfall, a few have been uprooted in my local woods with max gusts of just around 55mph after midnight.

Trying to find a gap in the showers is proving a headache for the evening dog walk, winds are dropping slightly now, so any showers will stick around a bit longer, decisions, decisions.......

At last haven't missed out on rain and some chunky showers passing through...some wind last night as well! gust of 51mph here reported.

Sunshine now but have had very heavy downpours earlier, during the morning we had very strong gusts of wind one brought down a fence panel in the back garden. That side of the garden is possibly our neighbours fence so maybe we might not have to get it repaired.

Yesterday's rainfall totals as calculated by the hi res radar. The tracking direction of the showers clearly showing up from the streaks of the radar echoes.

So barely any rain for the SE corner over the last couple of days, but the models suggesting a much better chance today with shower activity further south than yesterday:

Apart from the nagging chilly wind, today hasnt been at all bad, sunny blue skies and out of the wind the sun has a nice warmth to it. Unfortunately the showers are almost upon us again.

Gone very dark with a couple of rumbles, but don't think it'll be more than that. Sky is almost green!

Turned into a heavy downpour with some hail and a few more rumbles. Don't think it's enough to take me out of the No Storms club though. But lovely to see!

I'm just down the road from you I think @Lauren. The most beautiful purple forked lightning (intra cloud IC/CC, not CG) with the thunder not even a second after the lightning. Beautiful!! Soft hail that looks like snow... loving it!! Also got excited by seeing this swirl in the clouds... couplet?? No real visible rotation though

firgive the absolute terrible picture but just had a brief but very heavy hail shower. then to my joyful surprise, a strike of lightning & distant thunder! passed now but the radar shows a very beefy hailstorm to pass through soon. all in all, a very interesting May day.
