Dusting here overnight, but wow at the snow down the road!

Now the snow risk has passed, had a sneaky look at the MOD. Hints at some useable weather appearing?

The cold can do one now... unless it's the only alternative to wet

Woke to another inch or so here in Tonbridge. Despite a slow start last Sunday with Darcy, it’s actually been a fairly memorable event, more for longevity than intensity but can’t have it all ?‍♂️

Popped my head out the back door and we’ve had some more snow here over night

-3.1 C in Canterbury Has been snowing all night according to radar, a thick layer in back garden , will measure in  when it is light.. Would estimate another 10 - 15 cm in the last 24 hours.

Canterbury definitely been the Kent sweet spot. I’m not surprised since I was born there

Morning gang..

Looking forward to a warm up now otherside of weekend. As a garden centre this weather is brutal even though are plants are Hardy the cold drys out the pots as well but you can't water as it freezes.

Doesn't look like the cold spell will go out with a bang unfortunately.. Rain and mild air in by Sunday and back to normal service of a westerly based pattern from Monday..

Could be some issues out east with snow melt and rain causing a lot of water run off.. Something to watch..

GFS actually brings in some very spring like warmth in the later frames but all very FI at the moment..

We haven't had a proper battlefront situation for a good many years sadly

Unfortunately not.. Seems the cold just gets blown away as quick as it arrives.. Granted winter 2020/2021 will definitely go down as one to remember and it's not done yet.. But as we head closer and closer to march the chase for cold for me goes away and the chase for early warmth begins.

Cold in March is not uncommon but can be potentially catastrophic for farmers and our growing communities.

With the current global and UK economy like it is due to covid its the last thing we need..

Wow..

You must of been in a sweet spot.

Snowed all evening here then lightest snow throughout the night.

I would say a fresh 7cm on top of the old..(that would make a combined 23 cm over all from 5 days wth snow events.)

-1.6c here at mo..

The lightest of light dusting here.  Maxed at 2cm here over the spell.  A decent cold spell if rather underwhelming on snow depth.  One day, London will be in the sweet spot but alas not this time!

Still a hint from the Met Office, that after a milder interruption to the current Wintry conditions, colder conditions with perhaps some Snow Showers could extend Westwards again, with the possibility of a spell of disruptive Snowfall for the South.

Below, is their extended outlook, which was updated at 4 this Morning:

UK long range weather forecast

Monday 15 Feb - Wednesday 24 Feb

Rather cloudy with rain at times into Monday with any snow likely being restricted to the high grounds of Scotland, though there is signal for some widespread snow to low levels plausible. Temperatures remain split, with the northeast seeing around average while feeling milder in the south and west. However, the boundary between these two layers moves slightly north - giving some milder and wetter conditions into central and western areas. Through the rest of next week, conditions look likely to turn milder and wetter than seen recently. The heaviest and most frequent spells of rain and showers are likely in the west, with conditions drier and brighter at times in the east. By next weekend colder and drier conditions may gradually become established once again.

Updated: 04:00 (UTC) on Thu 11 Feb 2021

Wednesday 24 Feb - Wednesday 10 Mar

Into late February there is a signal for higher than average pressure to expand westwards leading to an increased chance of snow showers redeveloping in the east, for conditions in the north to become generally quite settled and for unsettled weather in the south, with disruptive snow possible. A similar picture continues into March, though milder conditions in the west look more likely to spread northwards.

Updated: 04:00 (UTC) on Thu 11 Feb 2021.

Regards,

Tom.  ❄️

Not sure Spring-like conditions will be around for long, looking like a return to cold after a milder blip. Have a feeling this winter is going to go on some time, with a cold first half to Spring. Could be plenty more snow chances, before it’s done.

Temp -5.5

Cloudy and calm

Probably the deepest snow since 2010/2018 here in Newnham, Kent

Well the 2 sledges used on Sunday are completely buried in the garden now. My oh shovelled the drive 2 days ago, now covered in 4 inches of snow again, its been a great few days here, better than 2010 actually, I think we managed 12cm then, much more this time!

I will upgrade 3/10 to 4/10 here for this spell.

Another dusting overnight, everything looks pretty even though you would struggle to make a snowball.

Have seen snow falling on various occasions this week at least and some of it stuck.

No classic here, but great to see the footage and pictures from others that have done so well.

Thinking of moving East again for the Kent clipper storms and a better chance of winter snowfall, although selling the idea to family based  on that might be tricky lol.
