up on the north downs in the sunshine and you could see the bands of showers to the north over london and to the south towards kent/sussex. We were in the clear spot today, although we did have the very odd flurry

Me for one looking forward to warmer weather now, 10c will feel tropical, especially if we get some sunshine.

Some hope for NW Kent and SE London for later on

Not great at reading the radar but these seem to be on a ENE to WSW heading now and even the ones behind it. Screen grabs at 1640 and 1740 respectively

Beautiful drive home with the sun setting amongst the popcorn like convection. Even went through a couple of showers that gave a short period of heavy snow with large flakes. Shame I couldn’t stop to take any photos.

Sitting in my attic, it was absolutely stunning, as the sun made the beautiful feathery flakes all golden, so gorgeous, but I was lecturing at the time and couldn't take a pic, although I did keep saying to my students 'Ooooh, the snow looks AMAZING'!

Some lovely falls here between Thanet and Canterbury. Today has made up for Sunday’s poor showing!

Canterbury to Folkestone you are in for an early evening treat.

Going to be some nice totals from this.

It is teaming down. Watched it come in from the mound. The orange sky, the mist in the distance then booom!

Pity the snow is coming to a end. Even though its been crap IMBY for snow, its been great to see those who have been lucky happy and enjoying it. Some very cold nights to follow. Then who knows hopefully will get another bite at the snow apple before Spring arrives.

How low can we go tonight across the region? I’m going for somewhere nudging -10c if skies stay clear.

Winds become more favourable around 11pm ish for N Kent, S Essex and into the London area as winds veer ESE for a time.

AROME shows the risk quite well, too.

Upper profile far better for convection tonight so these showers should be able to gain some reasonable intensity, the warmer mid-level wedge preventing deeper convection shifted today.

Having said that, winds wont remain favourable for very long so there's a fairly short window, perhaps enough to give 1-3cm in places, nice for those who have seen an almost complete thaw.

Ah, but encouraging for what?  They're saying very mild and wet from Sunday onwards which, judging by your moniker, may not be your preference.

I’m referring by to the second part of their long range outlook. Which clearly signals the *possibility* of a retrogressing Scandi high leading to a mobile and unstable easterly regime courtesy of associated troughing into Southern Europe.

Like I said not great at reading radar and don't know where airmasses come from and don't know a thing about clippers or streamers or slappers. You can get good content from an area of Sussex though always adds value

The BBC is showing -10C very widely across Surrey, but I think they are assuming snow cover.

Essex Highways have posted on their website and tweeted that it might go as low as -10 here tonight.

Is this just a poorly worded article and it's the road surface that might get that cold, not the actual weather temperature we talk of?
